I'm reading Monster Musume and trying to put some time away to read Poor Poor Lips, but I haven't gotten very far into it.
As for shows, the only thing I'm watching right now is the second season of Monogatari.

Manga-wise, I'm not reading anything currently. I'm not much of a manga guy. When I do read manga, however, it's usually obscure horror titles.
Have you read any of Emily Carroll's stuff? She isn't manga, but she's got a penchant for creepy stuff. "The Prince and the Sea" and "Out of Skin" especially. She does short story-like comics.
Just checked them out. Interesting stuff. I enjoyed The Prince and the Sea even though I'm not really all that into fairy tale-ish horror, but it was bleak and morbid enough. Out of Skin was more my taste, though. I love weird, grotesque horror, like Uzumaki or Franken Fran.

I've been watching Hunter X Hunter(2011) and it has now become one of my favourite anime to date. What I like about it is that it's not a typical shonen, often being considered a deconstruction, while it does have fighting, it's more strategic and doesn't rely on sheer dumb luck, deus ex machina or the power of friendship that most shonen always do. All the characters are brilliant and memorable and the idea of Nen (the power of the series) is well established and makes sense. But a word of warming, the series does get very dark, mostly because of the Yorknew arc and the Chimera Ant arc, especially with the latter arc. Togashi may be incredibly lazy, but he knows how to make a story interesting. So while the Chimera Ant arc is still ongoing, I plan to watch the arc from the start again a week before Christmas as it's one of my favourite arcs in anime, because nothing says festive like watching something that tackles the themes of genocide, human nature and North Korea's position in the world

Anime wise I just started watching Samurai 7, which is pretty good. I did also just finished Dangan Ronpa which was awesome. I am also trudging through Attack on Titan as well, and Ghost Hunt on netflix when I have the time.

Manga wise, not much. I'm reading Attack on Titan online, and I put a few on my christmas list, but sadly not enough. Nothing really interesting out there at the moment in my opinion.

I have been watching Trigun (I've watched it before but never finished the series) and Kill la Kill. If you haven't seen Kill la Kill yet then quit reading this post and watch it... NOW!!!

Just finished Gurren Lagann, which I gave a go because every time that I admitted to having seen it, everyone in a earshot radius would giga drill it into my mind that it's the greatest and manliest thing ever. While the first third of the show was a little weak and the story was consistently dumb and predictable throughout, I had a ton of fun with it. It's refreshing to see classical heroes save the day through the power of friendship and manliness to spontaneously generate drills out of their giant robots, in a day and age in which I can't even go to a Superman movie without being bored to tears by mopey, brooding protagonists.

Still continuing to watch Kill la Kill, which I fucking love and feel no shame because of it. The characters are generally fantastic, the art style is beautiful, the soundtrack is godlike, the plot seriously fucking moves (1 ep of KLK = 5 ep of AOT = 25 ep of DBZ), the setting is interesting, and despite being outwardly stupid, chaotic, risque, insane, and weird, you can see the genius hidden within if you care to decode that weirdness to take a closer look at the themes and symbolism. And it's just nice to have two strong female leads exploding with agency, as oppose to having a bland male audience surrogate surrounded by moeblobs who's roles can be summed up with "trophies." I can understand why people don't like the show, as it leaves a lot up to audience interpreation, but I'm not one of those people.

Speaking of moe, this is really the only reason I can't bring myself to start watching Madoka Magicka, despite all the great things people say about it. I just REALLY don't like the art style, even if I can respect that it's supposed to be a bait-and-switch. Another I kinda-sorta wanna try is Suisei no Gargantia. Any recommendations for this one?

Watching Bokurano currently. Not a happy show.
That's the super robot show that makes Evangelion look like Care Bears in comparison, right?

Well, I have been watching a whole lot of horror anime before and after Halloween, like Blood-C, Another, and The Future Diary, just to name the one's I've never seen beforehand... Other animes (that are not horror-related, but on the same familiarity as the other two series) include Michiko and Hatchin, Sankarea, and Heaven's Lost Property... (Can't count Attack on Titan since I've seen all of the current episodes so far, but might re-watch it with my cousins this time during my upcoming birthday...)

On the manga side of things, it boils down to "re-reading" anything related to Tezuka (mainly getting back to reading the Pluto series, mostly), re-reading the Ghost in the Shell mangas, getting back to reading both the Venus Versus Virus and Gunslinger Girl omnibus collections I bought a while back, or wondering why I haven't already bought a random manga book just because the cover caught me off-guard and the description sounds like it will only last less than 10 volumes, anyway... (since I tend to only buy those kind of manga series with the exception of omnibus collections, if there's only less than 10 to buy to complete the manga set...)

Although, I have been watching a lot of hentai over the pass few months, with only a few series so far I would want to import on DVD... and that's about it... (I still have a long list of animes I want to buy on DVD, regardless...)

If that's the only reason then I implore you to still check it out. It's animated by Shaft so even if you don't like the art style they at least do some interesting things art/animation wise that makes it look dark and imposing, without resorting to extreme gore or nudity. While watching Madoka, there wasn't a single moment that felt "cutesy." Perhaps a few innocent moments here and there in the beginning, but not in the same style as some other series and nothing that completely ruins the mood.

As for Gargantia, I haven't gotten around to finishing that, but what I've seen so far was pretty good.

Been watching Noucome and it is really fun and cute

The main guy has a curse that forces him to choose between crappy choices like sniffing or eating a porn mag

It has lots of awareness of cliches and sorta parodies harem comedies
I'm actually starting to love this series. It's silly, but it also shows some surprising depth at times. It makes me look forward to Wednesdays along with Zero Punctuation.

OT: I've been reading Hayate No Gotoku lately. I am trying to pace myself to make sure I haven't read it all so I can read some if I am felling stressed.

As for anime this season isn't as good as the summer season.

Recently I've been watching Nichijou, Nyarko-san Another Crawling Chaos, Teekyu and The World Only God Knows. I've watched a few episodes of I Couldn't Become a Hero So I Reluctantly Decided To Get a Job, but it hasn't caught my interest so far.

Gargantia is very good. It seemingly starts out as a generic mecha show (in SPACE), but by the second half of the first episode it switches to a mostly lighthearted culture clash show (won't give anymore away, just don't look at the main image for it), then in the second half of the show it gets really dark while maintaining the culture clash elements. The shift should come as no surprise considering Gen Urobuchi, the guy who did Madoka Magica, was involved in the production. Though it does feel rushed at the end, but that's just because they only had 13 episodes to work with.

It's kind of a holiday tradition for me.
And what a good one it is.

OT:

I dunno, I think Cromartie High school was the last manga I really got into. That shit is funny.

Also, whatever stuff we're watching in Anime club (Samurai Champloo was the last series we finished).

Dangan Ronpa. Very nice anime I just stumbled upon and watched in a entire sitting, it's very interesting if you enjoy the mystery genre or just enjoys the whole detective routine. I would highly recommend it.

On the manga side.. Hmmm.. Only sort of following Akame ga Kiru, really sort of dark manga about assassins, though still managing to have a draw style that makes it look sort of innocent :p

Hm, I guess I'll start with anime and manga that I started reading/watch around this season, including older works that I came around to recently.

Anime
Yowamushi Pedal(It wasn't even on my radar at first, but I gave it a chance, and I am really enjoying it)
Monogatari Season 2(This is probably my favorite season out of the series thus far)
Log Horizon(Kinda like SAO or .hack//, but doesn't take itself too seriously, which allows me to enjoy it)
Kill la Kill(Was turned off by the design of the MC's costume at first, but now I see the show is just off the walls crazy, and they even throw in some legit male sexualization to balance things out(a little). Nonetheless, the show is clearly not one that expects you to take it super seriously, so I am definitely enjoying it)
Kyousougiga(Was happy to see it got a full series, although I enjoyed to shorts as well)
Kyoukai no Kanata(It's a pretty solid show)
Magi: The Kingdom of Magic(I blazed through the manga, so I haven't been watching it as much)
The Law of Ueki(Rewatch it this season, after about 6 years. I still loved it)

Surprisingly, most of these weren't even on my radar at first, but I have come to enjoy quite a fair amount of anime from this season, and there are still a few I am contemplating checking out, namely Yozakura Quartet and Samurai Flamenco. And maybe that one where the otaku becomes some kind of governor/royalty in an alternate world, just because of a tumblr image I saw where they straight up dissed the second season of Minami-ke for having a bad director.(The director of this particular anime just so happens to be the director of the second season of Minami-ke) Or was it the third season? Not 100% sure, but it still seems like something to check out.

Manga
The Law of Ueki Plus(sequel to the law of ueki. I feel like it got cut horribly short though)
Anagle Mole(Written by the Author of ueki. Sort of similar to ueki with the niche powers, but basically improves on it in most other ways)
UQ Holder!(By the author of mahou sensei negima, it's sort of a sequel, that exists in the same universe and timeline as the original, but about 70 years later, with the immortal vampire Evangeline making a return with a more prominent role in the series than in the original. The story is based around other immortals this time around)

And that's it for stuff I started recently. As for stuff that I have been watching for a while, there's Hunter x Hunter 2011, which I am enjoying a ton as usual, I plan on getting around to finishing Tamako Market and Tsuritama soon, and on the manga front, I am still currently reading "the big three" out of habit mostly, although I do enjoy One Piece, and I have found Naruto to be fairly interesting as of late, and it seems like it's about wrapped up, but I just detest Bleach, and would like to emphasize that I am only reading it out of habit, because for me, it pretty much went so south, that it actively ruined the rest of the series for me, to the point that I can't even enjoy the parts of it from when I used to love it. Also reading Hunter x Hunter, and by that I mean rereading since we haven't gotten a new chapter in nearing 2 years now. Also reading The World God Only Knows, History's Strongest Disciple: Ken'ichi, Fairy Tail, The Breaker: New Waves, Kimi no Iru Machi on and off to some extent, Hayate no Gotoku, and Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru.

I recently sat down and watched a few episodes of Sailor Moon subbed. I was curious about the genre Sailor Moon allegedly invented because of my mixed opinions on items in the genre. While Puella Magi Madoka Magicka is my favorite anime and Cardcaptor Sakura is one of my favorite mangas, i hate Tokyo Mew Mew more than any show i've ever seen, even more than that My Little Pony spin-off movie released earlier this year.

My god does Sailor Moon suck. I always had a thing about stupid protagonists but i swear that Usagi makes Gene Starwind look like Heisenberg.

Just the sort of thing to get people into the holiday spirit. XD

I've been watching Kyousonogiga. I love it, best anime to come out this season, but it seems to be really under the radar for most people. I'm hoping for it to become a sleeper hit because so far it has the makings of a classic show.

Its hard to believe that the show sarted its life as a short animation project several years ago.

I just got done watching the first episode of Kyousonogiga.

The first seven minutes is easily one of the most entertaining bits I've seen. This thing is gorgeous to look at, and has a ton of eye-catching symbolism to think about. I don't really know what it's going to be about, (probably due to it starting as a short), but I'm hyped.

People should probably watch this.

I tend to spam watch everything. (I don't have regular american cable television, which I don't generally like or enjoy, hence why I don't have it).

I'm sort of bored with kill LA kill, it s its moents, but not something I'm enjoying. Still watching it tho.
Vibration is lacking... Not as good as the first arc, but oh well...
Kyoukai no Kanata is pretty solid, I'm really starting to enjoy it.
Tokyo ravens.... So far not bad, but I wish they'd actually you know.... get to the point/plot
Strike the blood. Interesting so far... But is also needing something, not sure what.
Golden Time. Can't wait for Tada to get his memories back. It would drive the show. Though it would also likely end the show.
IS 2. A bit bland atm, but what can you expect from basic harem comedy ?
Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita. Somewhat entertaining, for a fan-service harem show. Needs to quicken the pace a bit because the current course is a 24-26 episode setup and I doubt it will go that long.

There are others, but I usually watch them in chunks when I have the time (like today)

The ones That I really like this season
-Gundam Build Fighter It's just simply entertaining, doesn't need a golden story with how things are going.
-Kyoukai no Kanata Best thing to come out of KyoAni, nice balance of the usual moe blob, with a dark story and action.
-Log Horizon From the creator of Maoyuusha, it focuses more on the MMO world and people adjusting to their new reality.
-Outbreak Company Japan found a rift to another country in another dimension, and the first thing they do is culture trading with Otaku-stuff, Expect funny references.
-White Album 2, Not the actual sequel to White Album 1, it's adapted from one of the best selling VNs, and currently doing a good job on adapting the story.

Too lazy to list manga but
-UQ Holder 'nuff said

Kill la Kill: #Winning #AnimeSaved #ThankYouBasedTrigger

Monogatari Series Second Season: Unlike most, I don't like this as much as Bakemonogatari or Nisemonogatari, but it's still fantastic and such.

Arpeggio of the Blue Steel: Ah, this anime is so terrible on so many levels, but I do love it. It's terrible in such beautiful ways, and the naval battles are sweet, too.

Penguindrum: Welcome to rock-n-roll night! Welcome to rock-n-roll fight! I'm just a rock-n-roll man, we're just a rock-n-roll band~!

Mystic Archives of Dantalian: Watching for anime club. It's watchable and entertaining, and I like the aesthetic.

Humanity Has Declined[/n]: Finished this recently. Truly fabulous fabulousness.

Watched Attack on titan recently, was pretty decent.
I finished Highschool DxD not too long ago, I still can't decide if I liked it because of its constant fanservice or its not actually that bad story...

Recently watched Stein's Gate for the third time, because it's just that good.

Been meaning to check out kill la kill, guess I'll do that after seeing all these thumb's up for it here.
