This thread would be several times more awesome if BRIAN BLESSED had done the voice for a character in a game. Any character, any game. It can be made better with BRIAN BLESSED doing the voice.
I second this. Oh lord, I second this so much.

xD

Someone needs to make a game, where all the characters are voiced by BRIAN BLESSED! Imagine how awesome it would be! Gods help you if you try to play it without some kind of ear protection...

Possible uses of BRIAN BLESSED:

Sam Fisher, during stealth sections
Male (and optionally FEMALE) Shepards in Mass Effect.
Batman
Capt. Price from CoD

Of course they'd have to modify the game so any nearby characters stumble backwards in shock.

When I was playing the Japanese version of The Last Story, I recognised the main characters voice. I looked it up and it was Mamoru Miyano, aka Light from Deathnote.

I have a talent for recognising voice actors. It's practically a super power, which sounds impressive until you realise just how lame that is as a super power.

He narrates the campaign in the Alexander expansion for Rome: Total War.

Fuck yeah.

The guy from BULLETSTRORM played Tank Dempsy from Nazi Zombies. And the girl is Bastila from Knights of the Old Republic. I can pick them out from anywhere.

Jennifer Hale.
She's voiced a lot of great characters but I'll always remember her as Bastila and Naomi Hunter.

Thanks to their use of a particular VA, everytime I play Bulletstorm all I can think of is

"I'm goddamn Wolverine"

Seems that Jennifer Hale is in every game nowadays.
Which sucks since I fucking hate her voice acting. With a passion.

And Steve Blum is in quite a few things. He's... okay. Not my favourite voice actor, but hey, what can you do?

...this is an issue? A person with a voice that gets a lot of work in video games will break immersion? Umm..
It is actually, if you are used to a voice but see it coming from a different face with different expressions and mannerisms it will appear as very jarring. Less so if you don't actually see their face when they talk.

Being able to avoid sounding like the same person is actually very difficult, a lot of people say they can do multiple voices but they struggle to make themselves convincingly sound like another person through not using the same speech patterns in the way they stress certain words and change the tone of their voice and the speeds they comfortably talk at.

Happened to me most memorably when after playing through ME1 I tried to change Shep's appearance during ME2 and it looked so unnatural I couldn't stomach more than 15 mins of it.

Sam Fisher AKA Michael Ironside, not only he is an actor in my top ten favourite Sci-fi films but he also is featured in one my favourite action/stealth game.

I can pick out Jennifer Hale's voice anywhere because of its sheer awesome.

Otherwise when I played Prince of Persia for te PS3 I found myself shouting "Get out of my Persia Nathan Drake!"

I recognize most voice actors in most things they do. Nearly all of them have a tell, something that gives them away. A certain flavour in their voice that they can't shake, no matter how hard they try.

Rather than it breaking immersion or anything, I love when I recognize voice actors, and I tend to admire them as much, if not more, than regular actors.

This only happens when I see Sam Jackson in a movie. I'm always just waiting for him to get that look in his eyes like you just told him about your date with his mom. I'm always expecting him to freak the fuck out.

This is probably what made the prequel Star Wars movies so intense to me. I was just squirming in my seat thinking how did HE get to be a Jedi?!?!? Don't they know he can't control his anger? Oh, no. Jar Jar is about to talk to him. He's gonna get frustrated and be all like, "Galactic Basic [Galactic_Basic#Basic:_the_common_intergalactic_language] , mother fucker!! Do you speak it?!?"

I'm pretty sure this is the reason I bought Fire Warrior.
