I think it's funny you deny that Franz Ferdinand isn't Alternative, but you call Tally Hally and NIN alternative.PoisonUnagi said:Franz Ferdinand?subject_87 said:Franz Ferdinand, Ratatat, The Tumbled Sea.
That is all.
Alternative?
Noooooo. No no no.
Ontopic, take a look around http://planet.mu/ . It's a record store but you can buy mp3 albums off there. There's some really good musicians there and you can sample the songs as much as you like.
If you want actual band names:
-Twice Too Many (idm, electronica)
-Venetian Snares (breakcore, glitchcore, hardcore electronica) (fucking amazing)
-Animals As Leaders (prog-metal, jazz-fusion, idm)
-Mundtot (industrial, electronica)
-Jega (glitch, electronica, experimental)
-Skelic (glitch, darkstep, industrial, experimental, breakcore... etc)
-Panzerballet (death jazz, funk)
-Radiohead (electronica)
-Starfucker (light electronica/rockish)
-That 1 Guy (electronica/comedy)
-Scale The Summit (prog-metal, brightmetal)
-Nine Inch Nails (industrial, experimental) (listen to the ghosts album)
-Immelmann (industrial/ambient/mechanic/experimental) (just one ep, it's called mire if you're having trouble finding it)
-Tally Hall (light rock/experimental)
-The Avalanches (no fucking clue)
All of which are worth a listen. :>
Yeah I'm hoping to move to melbourne in a few years. They have a lot more culture than any where in NSW.Squallie Greenthumb said:that sucks man I'm sorry. Being from Boston I'm kinda spoiled.sam42ification said:Not so much for me. Local music is garrenteed to be covers of country songs or original country songs which is even worse.Squallie Greenthumb said:you would honestly probably be best off if you looked into local music. it's a lot easier to be original when you don't have a record deal.
So very much this.Duffeknol said:Listen to everything Devin Townsend has ever made.
Well, I can give you the linkt o the station I listen to here. They play a lot of new "alt" music, rock, and grunge.sam42ification said:Muse isn't very alt in Australia it's on the radio a lot. The difference between australia and america is america has a lot better radio stations. I went to colorado to see family and i was suprised at the amount of variety you had. Maybe it's just i live in a crap part of australia and all the good radio stations are out but our radio stations are either so mainstream you want tear out ears, country, classicle or talk. There is nothing wronge with classicle but i can't listen to for a long drive. We don't get any eric clapton or radio head but they are easily purched from sanity of all places(mainstream music shop chain).emeraldrafael said:Go with Radio head. They're still alt (surprisingly) all this time later.
... Though really, we would need to kno whats popular where you live. Muse is supposed to be alt, but they're heard alot here, so no one thinks of them as alt. However, we dont really ever hear Eric Clapton on the radio except a few times a year, so he's alt.
...
Could also listen to some of the lesser known stuff by the "mainstream". its rather surprising how different stuff can be when its not ont eh radio.
A link? Are they an internet radio station or can you download there podcasts?emeraldrafael said:Well, I can give you the linkt o the station I listen to here. Well, its a live radio station from that broadcasts through a tower, but they have a lkisten live option online, and the DJ pages have podcasts from stuff they did in the link. Just tell me what you like to listen to, and I'll see I know any stations taht may interest you that I have (Cause I have some from other states that broadcast sports games of teams I like to support).sam42ification said:A link? I like to listen to mostly metal, intsrumental and rock but usually they are all alternative metal and rock. Don't like sports that much unless there is a radio station devoted to kayaking but i dought that. Just put the link you originally going to put up.emeraldrafael said:Well, its a live radio station from that broadcasts through a tower, but they have a lkisten live option online, and the DJ pages have podcasts from stuff they did in the link. This Station is the same, buy the Play Pradators games
and thats about all i can give. Maybe I missed the mark completely, but these are my stations I listen to unless I'm listening to the Sirius/XM Satelite radio or the SONIC music station Direct TV puts out.
Just let me know i guess.
