Try an indie game called Cave Story. Back when I was having your same problem, I wanted to get away from all the horrible stuff that kept getting pushed out. So i went and looked up some indie games and that made me feel a lot better.

Heres some good ones:
Cave Story
Passage (even though its 5 mins long)
money sieze
knitt
teeworlds (multiplayer only but still fun)
Dwarf Fortress (if you can learn how to play)
-plus theres a bunch of rougelike games that are really in depth but hard for me to wrap my head around.

Also a good site to go to to find these and more is here:

I have played WiC, now THAT was an RTS.
Oh mein gott. You have played Orange Box games,R&C series,WiC... You really are a dedicated gamer. Well,i've ran out of obvious choices.

Now it's perfectly clear to me why you ask. You've already tried everything decent. I guess you've played Worms and Psychonauts too.

Ok this is probably one of the sadest recommendations you will have had, but why not try Sims 3 if you have not already... I know it does get boring but sometimes things twist and it becomes fun once more...

If you like action try DEUS EX or STOLEN. Perhaps even MAX PAYNE 1&2.

Sorry if you have already played these (and before anyone kills me, yes i know im sad).

Team fortress 2, without a doubt the best game ever..

Also when i buy a new game, i always return to Tf2 after a short while..

Saints Row 2 is also very recommendable, much better than GTA..

EDIT: Is Baldur's gate (what particular game), Neverwinter Nights or Red Faction Guerilla any good? I really love games with RPG elements like progression. (Thats why Borderlands disapointed me so much.)

Thank you very much.
If you haven't played the Baldur's Gate series or NWN, do it now! You won't regret it. Two of the best RPG series of all time (and they're probably cheap too, NWN at least (make sure to get the Platinum Edition)

Or you could buy Machinarium off Steam
I second Machinarium. I've only played the demo, but it looks incredibly nice.

Max Payne games, Deus Ex but not the second one. Any Elder Scrolls games.

ummmm if you want to go a little old school Chrono Trigger for the DS (re-released)

other than that you've played all the better ones

You want to play a good game and you deny the greatness of Borderlands, Gta4 and Mirrors edge.
There is nothing better.
There is something called... what was it? Ah yes, OPINION. Ever heard of it?
You know that my opinion was just that there wore no greater games than those 3.

Call of Cthulhu from Bethesda Softworks.
Zombie Panic: Source from somebody who makes modes (it's free on steam).
Suffering 2: Ties that bind or the first one.
Stubbs the zombie.
You should just check out games from game makers that make good games.

Sure have, but you don't seem to grasp the meaning of it.

Evil Genius

It's on STEAM these days...a very good game. Slightly rough around the edges, but the premise, execution and performance of its gameplay is some of the best around. Also, it;s very funny.

You get to be an evil genius, raising an army of minions and henchmen on a secret island base, designing your own base and the traps within, fending off anything from investigators to sabotuears to soldiers from various world powers

GO GET IT NOW

But please PLEASE look into it

Dead Rising.

If you have a decent TV.

If you're playing on a 20" standard def set then... nevermind.
Dang, I don't have an X360.
Well that would have been useful info from the beginning.

Anyway, based on your original post, I'd say take a look at the demo for Red Faction: Guerilla. I really enjoyed that game but it did start to get a bit tedious at times. Still, the demo will let you know if you'd like it more than anyones personal referral.

Here are a few games I can suggest for when you've given up on ever finding another good title:

Fallout 3 GOTY
Arkham Asylum
Half Minute Hero (PSP)
The World Ends with You (DS)
Resident Evil 4
Final Fantasy VII
Timesplitters Future Perfect
Phantom Crash (Xbox 1)
Project Zero I&II

Probably many more but I'll need to hunt through my collection again.

After playing terrible game after terrible game (Borderlands, GTA IV, Overlord II, Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge,...) and being frustrated for a very long time, I'd love to see a NORMAL game for once, one that's actually good or at least nice (such as Wolfenstein, Dead Space, MGS4, Oblivion, F.E.A.R. 1 & 2, Cryostasis, Demigod, Dawn of War II, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Section 8...).

Can anyone help me out and recommend a game based on the games listed above for me? I'd prefer a game made from 2004-present. I don't care about the graphics.

EDIT: Is Baldur's gate (what particular game), Neverwinter Nights or Red Faction Guerilla any good? I really love games with RPG elements like progression. (That's why Borderlands disappointed me so much.)

Thank you very much.
Yes those are all good games, dood.

Sorry, change that to Diamond Edition, as it adds three of the premium modules as well. The Platinum one is only with the two expansions.
