Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan (you can watch the whole thing on Hulu in English right now for free). It's...just so awesome. I can't even describe it. There are few things more awesome than Gurren Lagaan. It blows Naruto out of the water in every way. The characters, the fights, the humor, the writing, the story...all better by miles. And it's all neatly packaged in a mere 26 episodes.

Durarara is good if you like mystery and suspense with a bit of fantasy thrown in there. The characters are great and the story is very tight and engaging. I haven't seen it in English, but the Japanese with subs was very good. This one is 27 episodes long (they made an episode 12.5, as sort of a comic relief. It is hilarious though--as long as you've seen episodes 1-12).

Just finished Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan..... did not like it.
What i didn't like the most was that every time the mech would come up with a new attack from nowhere and win. plus the plot made NO SENSE.

Eden of the East should be perfect for you then. It has a pretty good story and is only one season long.

One season?! It's not even that (what is it with studios now... they're producing awesome series only 11 episodes long, seriously, WTF)

Gankutusou (be prepared to get a headache)
Paranoia Agent (be prepared to get an even worse headache)

Nurarihyon no Mago was pretty good (great soundtrack, too, and an anime with Yui Horie in which I actually liked her voice... first for everything)
Kaze no Stigma (just finished it, s'okay, but marginally better than most 'fight/romance/big evil' animes though it ends rather flatly)

EDIT: What do you mean "another one" I dont mind posting my anime and discovering other people who like anime its like one big happy family...if I said dango would most of you know what im talking about, if not go watch Clannad it is one of my fav animes.

Why does nobody ever mention Samurai Champloo. That series is fantastic. It has about 24 episodes and a clear ending. Very Good.
