Bleach. Why? B/c its awesome. Or Star Wars The Clone Wars if you like Star Wars. Also, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion isn't bad.

I'd recommend both One Piece and Katekyo Hitman Reborn. They're both long running series with a very well done and lighthearted plot. Bleach has been getting boring and Naruto is only decent so I can't really recommend them.

Go with Bleach, that is long running

If not, use Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is not super long, but 26 episodes and a few movies. It is probably the greatest anime ever!

Oh, by long running I mean in the 200+ ep. range, but I'll definitely put those on my "to-watch" list.

Also, is the Cowboy Bebop movie worth checking out?
If your looking for 200+ eps then you have just ruled out most anime. The only ones I know of worth watching are Naruto and Bleach.]

And yes, I enjoyed the Bebop movie.

I think the Berserk anime is pretty long.

I've only been reading the manga, and that kicks fucking ass at least.
Only if you consider about 20ish episodes long.

Okay, I've recommended this before on the Escapist, but it's worth it every time.

Monster.

Alright, it's not that light-hearted bit it is a decent length (74 ep.) and it has an absolutely brilliant continuous storyline. It's about this Japanese doctor living in Germany - he saves the life a little boy and years later discovers the boy was (and still is) a sociopathic serial killer. Feeling responsible for bringing this "monster" back to life, the doctor decides to hunt him down and kill him.

I really can't recommend this one enough. The plot takes so many twists and turns and the characters are all so compelling it's just......just...awesome. Really, check it out.

One Piece? I hadn't even considered that... I guess mentally I had just filed it along with card captors and yu gi oh. I'll definatly have to consider that!

Also, are there any anime where I should avoid the subbed version? I usually go for subs over dubs, but if there are any exceptions I should make, let me know.

Double also, is anyone else watching Dragonball Kai?

FLCL has a good English casting, and I prefer it over the Japanese because of how damn fast the anime is. Other than that, I don't know any cases where dubs were better than subs.

As for One Piece, if you saw the 4Kids version... you didn't see the real anime.

The real version of One Piece is more along the lines of Bleach and Naruto, but I'd honestly say that I prefer One Piece to either of them, massacred first dub regardless.

FLCL.
You won't regret it, I am in love with that anime.
It's random as fuck EG. Robots coming out of a boys head... Guitars that shoot bullets and fly!
It does have a story.. But I'd rather not confuse myself.

Dragon Ball Z
Back when Toonami was on Cartoon Network, DBZ was amazing.
And it has a crapload of episodes, more than 150 for sure.

And thats not counting Dragonball and Dragonball GT, both of which have well over 100 episodes

And if you add in the movies then BAM, you have yourself one long ass running anime.

SOUL EATER
SECONDED!
But read the manga, it's longer, the anime ended....

One Piece is fucking EPIC
Haruhi, google search to find the full name
Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn!
D.Greyman was a great manga
FLCL is the best anime out there, only 6 episodes but it is amazing

Avoid Naruto and Bleach, great at firs but both take a side to hell

Not as bad as this good ol' edit
Would be better if the editing wasn't so half assed....

I don't actually want to get into anything within the dragonball universe. I'm already getting my fill of that with Kai.

Also, GT? You're clearly mistaken, as no such thing ever happened. *twitch*

P.S. It's almost 300 episodes long, actually.

Not a long series but Haruhi, since I have to recommend it. Stick to the first season for now, Kyoto is just being a troll with Endless Eight.

Also Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note are just obvious.

And Full Metal Panic, if you consider all three seasons, is long like you want and has more continuity and story.
