i have a 5 year old computer i run SC2 just fine on medium grapicsZeratulsoulB said:Don't play SC2, you need a fucking monolith to play it.
I recommend the first one because it's more balanced, you can keep up with the story and very easy to run.
Damn right. First time playing Rome: Total War, you feel damn invincible sending a cavalry charge at the enemy until they get cut to shreds by the enemy frontline.tr00per7 said:id say any total war if you actually like a game that requires a bit more brains rather than the "select all units to attack" kind of rts like starcraft 2 and age of empires. But then thats why the games aint too popular, its not something you could just jump into but it all depends on taste really.
Starcraft is the first thing that comes to mindnight_tiger9 said:I have been itching to play an RTS for a while, and I recently found an old Age of Empires game, the Age of Kings. After going through hours of building up my civilization and making a huge hord of soldiers, I got screwed when my entire battle force were converted by monks and sent to attack my own keep.
Could someone recommend a fun, challenging RTS thats easy on noobs? Preferably without a standard unit for everyone that can turn 40 men against me?
I have a 1 year old computer and on the lowest graphics its pretty chuggy, people told me to get a new graphics card, but I'm not that willing to spend 200 EURO for a single game.direkiller said:i have a 5 year old computer i run SC2 just fine on medium grapicsZeratulsoulB said:Don't play SC2, you need a fucking monolith to play it.

you dont need a monolith to play it and it is very balanced(blizz published the win/loss rate for each machup there within 5% of even win loss)
Wait, CoH is easier then Starcraft for noobs?!midget_roxx said:It's brutal for noobs though.Shirastro said:IMO starcraft 1 will always be the best RTS there is...so i would recomend trying that
Something like Company of heroes is easier than your traditional RTS, or you can try starcraft 2 which has better matchmaking (CoH is dieing). SC2 is good because of the massive amount of content out there that will make you improve, not to mention coaching and small level tournaments. I definitely recommend a tournament it is a huge amount of fun

Really ner vod? I always thought BFME2 was more fun, the expansion in general. But yeah, the BFME games can be a blast, though I'm fairly sure they aren't for sale anymore, and they aren't as fun on single player. The servers went down at the beginning of the year iirc and what was left of the players went to other services, like gameranger and... tungle or something, can't remember what it was called. SW: Empire at War had fun space battles, and the galactic conquest allowed you to build a SSD, which was so big it took up, like, a quarter of the map. It's so damn satisfying to use, almost as fun as summoning a Balrog under your enemies army.Wieke said:The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Battle_for_Middle-earth] is quite entertaining and not too complex. The game did some interesting things regarding base building (limited and streamlined but with interesting results). Avoid Battle for Middle Earth 2, all the interesting innovation from the first was left out and replaced with standard fps stuff.
Oh and I second the posters advocating Dawn of War, SoSE and Starcraft 1&2 (though for the last two I'm not so sure on the noob friendliness).
