Freaked.

Early 90s film written, directed by and starring Alex Winter (Bill from Bill & Ted).
It's a comedy film about a Hollywood asswipe who is mutated by a mad scientist when he strays onto a backwater freak show. The cosmetic special effects are truly brilliant. The comedy is very goofball but at times incredibly hilarious and subtle (none of the best jokes are in the trailer) and it sent up early 90s popular culture perfectly. One of my favourites. Keanu Reeves makes an uncredited supporting role as Ortize the dog-boy.

Trailer here.

Films you probably havn't seen that I've seen:

Crazy Eights: DO NOT WATCH! its lame as hell and the story is loose and murky, as is the cheap scares.

Good films you probably havn't seen:

The Hobbit animated movie (1977), its cute yet action packed, and with catchy songs
The Young Frankenstein (1974): Gene Wilder at his finest, comedy at its best, and puns you will find yourself uttering right after hearing!
Last Holiday (2006): A neat lil story about a shy woman finding out she may have a terminal illness, decides to sell all her stuff and live it up, along the way meeting high-class people who enjoy her down-to-earth spirit.
And one more for the holidays:

Jingle All the Way (1996): Stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Phil Hartman, Rita Wilson, Jake Lloyd, James Belushi and Robert Conrad. It's a hilarious winter family comedy about a man, his son, and the toy he wants for Christmas.

All four very different, but all share a goodness that warms my heart in this chilly times.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Stellar film.

"A petty thief posing as an actor is brought to Los Angeles for an unlikely audition and finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation along with his high school dream girl and a detective who's been training him for his upcoming role." (copied from metacritic)

Also, it stars Robert Downey Jr. That's one reason to watch.

Bunny & The Bull - It's a road movie, er but not, from the director of Mighty Boosh

Strings - Fantasy story done completely with marionettes, MUCH better than it sounds.

Rubber - Heh where to start here. It's about sentient tire with psychic powers.........

One of the best films I've seen recently is called "Looking For Eric". A slow burn but a really enjoyable film.

Waltz with Bashir. Basically an animated documentary about Israeli intervention in Lebanon, and the massacre of Palestinians, from the perspective of the writer, as he recounts his time in the Israeli military.

Although I've called it a documentary, it is definitely not one in the traditional sense. It has an actual narrative and story, and is so well made that it's actually gripping. The animation is amazing as well. My avatar is a still from it.

I'm not looking for big hollywood blockbusters or famous cult classics like Evil Dead. I'm talking about movies that flew completely under my radar. Whether it was because they were before my time, or because it had a lower budget or whatever else.

I am looking for some obscure, but good movies.

I guess I'll start with Turkey Shoot. It is by no stretch of the imagination a good film, but it's one of those movies that is so bad and corny it ends up being enjoyable. A good movie to watch with some friends and some beer.
Grosse Point Blank & War Inc: These are John Cusack's best films, with a unique take on the hitman business meeting up with modern times with themes of comedy/action/rom com in Grosse, meanwhile for War Inc it's much the same but with an extra edge of black humour and the idea of commercialising war. I am a bit of a Cusack fanboy but I don't know many who have seen these films, also I think their amazing.

Scott Pilgrim Vs the World: Better then the comics, and a mix of light comedy, action and hipster retro themes. Many people hate it, many people haven't seen it, and many people adore it.

Hobo with a shotgun: classic throwback to the days of the Toxic Avenger. Cheesy B movie fun with over the top dialogue tones of gore and funny kills, topped off with a gorgeous colour saturation film effect.

The Room: Best writing ever

Rubber: It's about a tire which rolls around blowing peoples heads up... No I am not joking.

All most any Godzilla film, excluding the american shit that wont have the same turn out for Akira tho it seems likely (Travis really?)

Hangover 2: better then the first with darker tones more constant jokes and wasn't ruined by the trailers.

and that is all i can think of for the moment.

If you haven't seen LA Confidential, you simply must. It's one of the best cop dramas and noir films ever made, and IMO should have won the Best Picture Oscar over Titanic.

99% on Rotten Tomatoes if you don't trust me.

Well there are so many....I'm going to pick a theme and name some noir since no-one else has.

Du rififi chez les hommes.
Les Diaboliques.
M. If nothing else watch this one, its very stylistic and the ending is amazing work.

Of course there are alot more gems, but I don't want to post too many titles...I basically just work my way down IMDB noir list when in need of something to watch.

I thought people were supposed to suggest obscure films...
I'd give the Quartermass Xperiment a look (or The Creeping Unknown if you're American).
It's a good bleak early science fiction film by Hammer, a real gem, mayhap not perfect and terribly niche, but you should give it a look, even if there's only a slim chance you'd enjoy it.

It wasn't always an obscure film, but it seems to have become one, would be nice to see it have a resurgence.
