Pretty much the same, you dont have a special or unique taste.
Did I say that I did? Whats that? I didnt. Ohh well then you can just stop jumping to conclusions ;)
Its irrelevant what you say, your taste is pretty much average.
yes.. whats your point kid? spit it out
The point is that since your taste in music is pretty much exactly the same as almost everybody else, you're just going to get the same replies as in any other "recommend me music" thread, and you should therefore just have used the search bar.

Old thread is old. I realise that you are new, but search functions are easy to operate.
Oh please. 99% of threads have been done before, this is uncalled for.

Especially you. Not everyone is around to give their opinion so starting a new one will get many different people. In fact, I haven't seen one of these threads in ages.

Also, usually when I see them they are asking for indie bands, most of the time it's just flat out metal.

And one more thing, are you saying there are people with special of unique taste? Get over yourself.

Masters Apprentices are the second best band to come out of Australia I believe, give them a go.

Faith No More had some really good songs, especially on their The Real Thing album.

Rage Against the Machine are really aggresive rock/rap band, they had some really good stuff.

Listen to progressive rock? If you do give Emerson, Lake & Palmer a go. They had some really powerful shit like Tarkus and Karn Evil 9.

Edit: Just remembered one, give Alice Cooper a shot, he has many great songs like Poison, Schools Out, I'm Eighteen, etc.

Fred Astaire or Frank Sinatra. Because those guys just have so much class it doesn't matter what you normally listen to, they are still the kings.

Alternatively, if you want something a little more experimental, then I would suggest Poe. She's just off the wall.

Ignore the actual video and just listen to the song.

may i suggest that you try out some music specific forums, and also that you add some more personalty, seriously those are the most generic bands to list maybe go list a few bands that's not on rollingstones top 50 bands of all time, it will make it easier to recommend new bands as based on those you have listed one can recommend basically everything, but a good place to start if you really like classic metal is to check out brütal legends soundtrack and then buy everything by those artists/bands.
May I suggest you go suck a lemmon. Seriously, just because you think they're generic doesn't mean you can spit shit at someone with a different opinion.

You can just stop wasting everyones time and just recommend something you know.

Personally I go for symphonic metal, a style which people my age generally don't liten to but that i got into because i like both heavy metal and classical and was just a natural progression for me. searching symphonic metal will give you a lot of bands, usually from europe, but i have found a lot to be a little bit immature, or targeted towards a emo teenage audience.

so i am going to recomment the work of a woman named Tarja. she was a founding member of nightwiswh but was kicked out a number of years ago. she is a symphonic metal and classical artist with the most amazing voice and training outside opera. everything she sings has a point, and is great when you really think about it, but is done so well that it can be enjoyed on a purely surface level as well. My favourite at the moment is "In For A Kill". Rather heavy for her but not headbanging, concussion-inducing heavy. and you can understand her. well, as much as you can for a classically trained vocalist. but classical vocals are much easier to understand than opera.

Hey this is my first thread :D Been looking for some bands to listen to, any recommendations?
I tend to listen to Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Nirvana, The Beatles, Iron Maiden. The classic rock n roll/metal kind of thing
I apoligise on behalf of the Escapist, sometimes people here are looking for a fight. Everyone gets criticised here so just try to ignore it if you can, it turns out much better, believe me.

Queen. Anything by Queen. The classics are ofcourse mandatory (Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't stop me now, Somebody to love) but many of their less-well-known songs are some of the best I've ever heard.
Oh no...I can't resist now.

This scene only makes this song better for me. ^_^
Best scene in the movie, and one of the best songs Queen made. Thank you for reminding me, thanks a lot man, I had almost forgotten that.

Recommendation threads promote less discussion than vs. threads, so when OP could just as easily achieve his objective of finding some music by simply doing a quick search, I'm going to say it's a bit redundant, yes.
Here's one of the last threads on the topic, it's eight days old: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.268452-Need-more-music#10281676 granted this one doesn't have the same preferences as OP

Bear in mind, I didn't really initially complain that the thread has been done before. I responded to OP's claim - when confronted with the fact that these threads are almost as common as anime recommendation threads - that his tastes were unique enough that just looking through one of the other threads wouldn't produce satisfactory results.

Also, usually when I see them they are asking for indie bands, most of the time it's just flat out metal.

And one more thing, are you saying there are people with special of unique taste? Get over yourself.
Nono, I'm not saying that. That's why, unless you're looking for something obscure or specific, it is preferable to just visit one of the older threads. Particularly since people post largely the same things regardless of OP's stated preferences.
Of course, I don't blame OP. The search bar isn't even mentioned in the new forum rules.

Recommendation threads are sort of unique when it comes to repeat threads. Even though most discussions have been done before, bringing up an old topic to be discussed anew can be interesting; however, when you're just asking for people to give you a list of music, there's no reason not to just consult one of the many many lists that are already out there instead.

I'll admit though. We haven't had that many recommendation threads lately. Even anime rec. threads. It looks like we might be beginning to get rid of them.

Edit: And referring to people as "kid" isn't normally the best way to go about if you want them to be nice to you.

Nine Inch Nails. Not because it fits your current music trends, but because it's fucking awesome.
