I was just wondering about STALKER myself. Now, i'm not getting a very high grade laptop and i'm not sure what the spec's are gonna be for it yet since i'm getting it from my cousin but i was wondering how well they run on a medium to low grade laptop.
If your laptop is considered good by today's standards it's highly likely it'll run the STALKER games pretty well. Shadow of Chernobyl is probably the least demanding, but all three use the same engine, the subsequent games just have some improvements and extra bells and whistles (which can always be switched off for better performance).
Thats just it, i don't know if its good by todays standards... :(

I mean, the PC i'm using at the moment could only run Fallout 3 at Lower Spec's without being godly slow. I have no idea how the laptop would handle STALKER.

If you don't mind dated graphics and gameplay then Neverwinter Nights is a must (the first one! not the second one). There is a literal planets worth of extra content you cna download and play and some of it is absoluetly amazing.

I did some research:

FO3 minimum requirements

Pentium 4 2.4 GHz / Athlon XP 2500+
1 GB RAM (XP) / 2 GB RAM (Vista/7)
DirectX 9.0C compliant card with 256 MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better / ATI X800 or better)

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl minimum requirements

Pentium 4 2 GHz / AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c compliant card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 5700 / ATI Radeon 9600 or better)

Shadow of Chernobyl is more than a year older than Fallout 3, so its minimum requirements are quite tame.

UltraStar!

Okay, it's a PC-specific version of a console game called SingStar but it has a really cool feature you don't get on the console version: you can rip your own CDs as .mp3 files, download or scan cover and background images (or have none), get the sheet music one way or another and code your own song files!

The release of RBN software may have an impact on the number of people making new songs for UltraStar, but just as an example Evanescence sheet music is available online for free and there's no law against sharing the (tiny) text file so once one person's coded a song you want and you have the CD .....
