One day I decided to go drudge about in my attic, mostly because Steam was down in my area and I had nothing to do.

After looking for about 15 minutes, I found my old PS1 I had stuffed up there long ago and forgot about it.

And I want to get some games on it. So suggest away.

Tekken 3 -- THE BEST 3D fighting game ever made. Seriously, it's one of the highest rated games on GameRankings for a reason!

Doom -- Nothing is better than putting in the granddaddy of FPSs and firing away.

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus -- This has got to be one of the most unique, awesome, and epic 2D side scrolling games ever made. It is sheer genius, although the learning curve is a bit high. Which brings me to....

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night -- Probably THE best 2D platformer ever made.

And there you have it. Go ahead and call your friends, tell them you won't be out for a few days.

Metal Gear Solid
Parasite Eve 1 and 2
I've never played it, but people seem to like Syphon Filter.

My favorite game by a wide margin is PS1 RPG Chrono Cross. It's pretty easy to find online, and relatively cheap.

Wild ARMs 1 + 2

My work is done here. The others will handle the rest.

Final Fantasy IX for starters since it's the best Final Fantasy ever made. That's my top pick.

I also recommend Xenogears and Brave Fencer Musashi.

Easy "Jade Cocoon" 1. Starts off like the typical Jrpg monster hunter/catcher game but combinding monsters to gain skills, alter shapes, bodies and skills. Vs mode. Seriously it is a short game story wise but its after story is by far the best I've seen in a while.

Xenogears (I've been ninjaed, but it's worth repeating).

It is my absolute favorite game ever.

Also FF 7, Parasite Eve... honestly FF 8 and FF 9 are both worth it, although both totally different (and some people hate FF8 cause it's got a weird magic system).

Uhm, anything? I mean you're asking for a good game on the system that literally has THE most classics of any system, not to mention underpraised gems.

There are plenty of great PS1 games. These are my personal favorites.

Dino Crisis 2 - The gameplay could be quite dated to today's standards, but this was the first game that Capcom tried to make a fully action game out of a former survival horror game. This could be very well the spiritual precursor of Onimusha and Devil May Cry and, eventually, Resident Evil 4. Also, what's not to love about killing dozens of dinosaurs with huge weapons?.

Castlevania - Symphony of The Night - Not much to say here, just play it.

Vagrant Story - Amazing Action RPG with a wierd turn based hack n' slash system. Also, you get to fight bosses every 15 minutes.

Crash Bandicoot 2 & 3 - These were easily some of the best 3D platformers the PS1 offered. If you had to pick between 2 & 3, I'd go with 2. Just avoid the first one like the bubonic plague.

Spyro 2 - Another amazing platformer. If you can grab the whole trilogy, then good for you.

MediEvil - A rather bizzarre hack n' slash game with a touch of an Action/Adventure game and one of my favorite PS1 games. I easily finished this game like 4 o 5 times with 100% completition... it's that good.

Metal Gear Solid - 'Nuff said.

Mega Man X series - It's Mega Man, there's not much to say, other than these were some of the best 2D graphics the PS1 had to offer and they still hold up pretty well today. I'd go for X4, but if you can get 'em all, the better.

Resident Evil 2 & 3 - THE survival horrors of the PS1. 2 is my personal favorite, but 3 is still amazing. I don't like the first one, except for the GameCube remake, but if you're curious, get it too. Also, what's not to love about Jill sandwiches?

Legend Of Dragoon - Great, little-known RPG which was originally supposed to topple FF7. And in my opinion it did.

Crash Team Racing - Playstation's Mario Kart

Crash Bandicoot Warped - Best Crash Bandicoot game IMO

Spyro 2: Rypto's Rage - Amazing action/adventure/platformer/puzzle/totally freakin' awesome game.
