I don't keep up on a lot of the new sci-fi series; lately, I've been rediscovering some of the older ones, classics as well as ones that have fallen by the wayside:

Space: 1999 (the closest thing we sci-fi fans will get to a series based on 2001: A Space Odyssey)
UFO
Earth 2 (inspired a lot of core elements of "Lost")
Ark II
Jason of Star Command (Sid Haig as a space pirate... Awesome.)
The Outer Limits (classic series, especially "Demon with a Glass Hand")

Nobody cares about Babylon 5? Weak, guys, weak. I would have thought that it would pe popular here but it seems that you all just scared, weak little children, worthy of neiter pity or mercy.

I will recommend some other sciene-fiction however.

The animated Star Wars show, before the cartoon movie, is quite good.
Twilight Zone
Dune TV series, Dune 200 I think it is. The movie is crap but the book is good so you might want to read that first.

I didn't like the above one very much but hey, it couldn't hurt if you checked it. Not exactly Sc-fi but whatever.
I agree with Babylon 5 and also Blake's 7 series. Also thank you for saying Dune, I can't believe I forgot that.

Edit: As for BSG did you mean "apart from the Re-imagined BSG"?. In which case then try the original BSG or the 1980 spinoff.

X-Files, Red Dwarf, Futurama (alright, so 2 out of 3 are more sci-fi/comedy, but still they're good)

Damn it practically every show I was gonna mention, has been mentioned...

I'll still push for Star Trek:TNG and there's always watching BSG again...

Max, why the hate for it if I may be so bold?

I gotta start on Stargates, I was having to much fun in the star trek camp for that...

But I can only watch a series on DVD. Canny do a TV cap'n. But i've only got wee coppers in ma pawcket...

I might venture into farscape and Babylon 5 if I get time...

Whoever mentioned Last Exile, I'm lovzing that at the moment... Is nice!

Have you tried Lexx, Strange and cool all at once
I forgot about Lexx. That show was awesome. It wore a little thin toward the end (Lexx on earth, ugh), but it's still a fun ride.

But of course!. Is it going to be a shotgun wedding though?
If by "shotgun wedding" you mean "we both bring shotguns and kill all the guests," then yes.
Hey, it's Kill Bill all over again...

OT: The Gundam series.

You forgot Stargate.
Stargate Universe is basically BSG with Stargates, or so I heard.
I refuse to watch BSG, so.

Stargate Atlantis and SG-1 are also excellent.
But Universe is much more BSG-y than they are.
Oi! Battlestar is great! Like, really great, f*cking fantastic actually. SGU...not so much, BSG-style seriousness does not fit in the Stargate universe, the drama feels forced in, the characters feel almost fake. I wouldn't recommend SGU at all, for proper space drama I still point to Battlestar Galactica. C'mon Maxy boy, give it a shot.

Ooookaaay back to recommending. Well as said, Farscape is frelling fantastic, and the recent remake of V also looks pretty cool so far. Also Red Dwarf for a delicious sci-fi/British comedy mash-up and Futurama.

Thank God _someone_ posted about Lexx. I read through the first page of replies and hadn't seen anything... my jaw had dropped in horror and dismay.

Lexx was awesome. Aside from Dr. Who its the only sci-fi show I legitimately own (which, of course, means its the only one I own *ahem*).

Blake's 7. But start watching from the second episode. And stop watching at the end of the season 2.

Is there any other kind that I love?.

Max..darling!. I can't believe you just said that..what is this blasphemy?. Are you implying that you dislike Battlestar Galactica?. I-, I, don't know what to say!. It's not something any geeky girl wants to hear. Did you even give it a chance?.

I really enjoyed Fringe's first season and am planning on getting the next one soon.
Farscape was fun as well.

I get the distinct feeling that this thread will be derailed with a splattering of images from the entire cast and crew of Battlestar Galactica.

Still to sum up my contributions thus far:

Recommended viewing (in no particular order)

*Farscape
*Dune
*Battlestar Galactica (it's worth the re-watch)
*Flashforward
*Dollhouse
*Babylon 5
*Reaper (it's not really sci-fi but still, you have satan himself on the show)
*Fringe
*Eureka (comedy sci-fi?)
*Primeval
*The Lost Room (a sci-fi miniseries)
With that done I got one more thing to contribute to this BSG-fest; the main cast with Bear McCreary on score
