I'm going to second No More Heroes. You have to approach it with the right mindset to enjoy it, though. First time I played it, I hated it so much I returned it the same day I picked it up. A year later, I tried it again and ended up loving it.

On Red Steel 2, I'd recommend avoiding it. If you have the option of renting it or buying it for $10 or less, go for it, but failing that, just stay away from it. Its gameplay is interesting, but nearly everything else about it ranges in quality from uninspired to goddamn stupid, and even the gameplay stops being fun after a while.

Sonic Colors. No, seriously. Sonic Colors. I don't care if you're not a fan of the hedgehog, go get the game. Sonic Colors. It's absolutely wonderful and nobody else has recommended it yet. In case you haven't gathered yet, the name of the game is Sonic Colors.[footnote]If you really hate Sonic, then you don't have to get it, but Colors is truly a pretty brilliant game, and they did minimize the story compared to Unleashed, so while it's still ridiculous and contrived and silly and cartoonish, it's not really what the game is about anyway. If you do get it, I recommend playing with either a Gamecube or Classic controller though, I could never get the hang of the Wiimote for the thing.[/footnote]

I'll throw out seconds for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Xenoblade Chronicles (if you're a fan of JRPGs), Monster Hunter Tri (if you're patient with games), and the two No More Heroes games (if you're a fan of Suda51's eccentric style).

A huge recommendation for Kirby's Return to Dreamland too. It's not hugely challenging until the later levels and the challenge maps, but it's extremely fun to play and has a fairly high amount of replay value.

I'll throw a few onto the list. I second monster hunter tri, no more heroes, and a lot of others already mentioned. Except the Call of Duty recomendations... ugh, if mmofps is your thing just go with goldeneye 007, it actually has a good single player campaign and is exactly the same as CoD multiplayer just with Bond characters and maps.

But I would add 2 to the growing list. Fire Emblem is a nintendo handheld series that got console releases in "Path of Radiance" for Gamecube and "Radiant Dawn" for Wii. Both are available for Wii and are great if you love tactical rpg.

And for action... I gotta go with "The Godfather; Blackhand Edition." It's just grand theft prohabition, that follows the movie. Driving sucks, but missions and stuff are OK. And I'm a big fan of the executions (my favorite... the Sicilian Candle.)

Super smash bros brawl
MADworld
No more heroes (+sequel)
LoZ twilight princess
Okami
xenoblade chronicles
Resident evil 4 (if you haven't played it yet)
that's what I can recommend from the top of my head

Metroid Prime is probably just about the best game on the console. The first two are gamecube games which are compatible and the 3rd was made for the Wii. If you're lucky you can find a compilation of all three with the originals redone with Wii controls. They are good games, play them.

Other than that...mario kart is pretty cool too I geuss.

Sonic Colors is AWFUL. It's 95% 2D with a super zoomed-out camera and slow screen shifts and 5% completely f***ing auto-mated. One of the worst Sonic games ever. Just get Generations.

Well, if it weren't specified that the OP was asking for Wii games, I would've recommended Generations. Generations isn't a Wii game. And "Modern" Sonic plays practically exactly the same as Colors, with the only slight difference being level design between the two games, to which I'll just say that I disagree with your assessment of how the game plays because I don't feel the need to get into an argument over a video game.
OP asked for recommendations, I recommended one of my favorite Wii games. You countered, OP can weigh the decision for himself.

Yes. Red Steel 2 is a bland, uninspired, mediocre Ubisoft game, and Goldeneye is an average, lackluster game lacking in content. I recommend Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 over either of them any day.

Calls Goldeneye average and lackluster

Well, this thread turned into another Karutomaru argument fast.

Go ruin a different thread.

OT: My recommendation is Kirby's Epic Yarn, as I haven't seen it listed in this thread yet. It's what you would expect from a Kirby game: whimsical, cute, and fun. Only this time...with yarn!

Aw, look at his cute little DEATH TANK. It's so fluffy!!

The game also has co-op multiplayer throughout the entire game, if that affects your decision at all.

If you can find a copy, pick up cursed mountain. It's a lot like the penumbra games but with a heavy focus on ghosts and Tibetan mythology.
