Simple enough. What are some games that you can safely classify as 'indie', released for the PC (since I don't own an X360 or PS3 and never sunk any money into Virtual Console or a CC), that I don't already own or, preferably, might not even have heard of?

Here's all the ones I have on my hard drive right now, all of which I recommend:
-VVVVVV
-Super Meat Boy
-Cave Story
-Aquaria
-Touhou Project from 6 to 12.3

Here's what I had on my Steam wishlist before making this:
-Amnesia: Dark Descent
-Reckless Disregard for Gravity
-Recettear and Chantelise (just felt like putting them together)
-Limbo and Braid (same)
-Terraria
-Spacechem
-Frozen Synapse (forgot this was indie)
-Technically also Minecraft, but since that's not on Steam, it might be a little harder for me to acquire a copy of.

Here's everything I've added to it:
-And Yet It Moves
-World of Goo
-Cthulhu Saves The World (+ Breath of Death 7)

So, if anyone has a few other awesome indie games they'd like to share, or want to dissuade me from certain games in my 'to-get' list, go nuts in 3...2...oh, screw this. Just do it.

Edit: My dad has bought Machinarium, and it looks pretty cool, but I haven't played it yet. I have been told to correct this, though, so I might. Sometime.

Check these out:

World of Goo
And Yet It Moves
Machinarium
Trine
Blade Kitten
(possibly) The Path (it's one of those 'either hate it or love it' games)
(possibly) The Void (a very peculiar game as well, you need the right set of mind to enjoy it)

Alabaster
Toribash

They're free and oh so enjoyable. Granted, not very long, but at least Alabaster will give you more than one day of enjoyment. Toribash is... Just awesome in its own way.

Though I don't play that many indie games on steam, Ben there, Dan that, spectromancer and maybe Vampires: The masquerade bloodlines despite that last one not really qualifying.

One that's fairly cheap and is pretty much guarenteed to suck up your time is Atom Zombie Smasher. One of the best soundtracks I've heard, and a unique approach on Zombie Survival. Oh, and Dungeons of Dredmor. You'll get a lot more out of it if you turn permadeath on.

If you have 2-3 friends who would play it with you: Magicka. Only one needs all the DLC and its absolute fun.
Oh yeah, totally forgot about that one. Singleplayer kinda sucks but in co-op modus it gets really awesome. One of the most fun co-op games I know.

Most of the stuff mentioned sofar and
Capsized.

It plays like Abuse and it's professionally well made and good fun.

-The first two there are pretty interesting-looking, and I've heard some good things about the first.
-I actually own this one. Gaming ADD strikes again.
-Heard about it (Yahtzee), but I'm not normally into physics platformers.
-Really not sure how 'indie' Atari is, but it does look interesting...
-If they have asterisks next to them, I'm probably going to leave them for a while. Oh, well.
-Never really read anything about it, even though I just remembered it came out on XBLA first. At least the delay isn't as long as Braid's.
-Sounds a bit like Dwarf Fortress without the clunky interface (i.e. what makes Dwarf Fortress popular). Ah, well.
-I like JRPGs, and I've definitely heard this one is pretty good. And it's only three dollars. Added.
-Never really been into WRPGs as a whole.
-Another one I've heard of and never looked into. And it's freeware, which got me to look into Cave Story, which I love...
-And the last two are totally alien to me.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Everyone else, I'm sorry I don't have infinite time, but I promise I'll get to yours.

Cactus games yo. I definitely suggest Mondo Medicals, Mondo Agency, Seizuredrome... and yeah, try all his other stuff to. Just a warning, Mondo Medicals and Mondo Agency are both super creepy sometimes.

Swan Song [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.301706-Visual-Novel-review-Swan-Song]

...not really sure whether it's traditional "indie" stuff, and its gameplay is about as interactive as Zork and Myst was; but I believe that, aside from being good, it's sufficiently under the radar - and far enough from commercial mainstream offerings - to warrant throwing it out there.

Dwarf Fortress. The learning curve is more of a cliff, covered in magma, but once you climb it, you've got an excellent game for building your own version of Moria. Or Mordor.

My best suggestion is to pick up the Humble Indie Bundle. It is a charity event that runs every so often, selling a bundle of indie games. While you already have one of the games, the remaining games games are all great and several has already been recommended by posters above me. Oh, and you get Steam keys for 11 of the 12 games. When the last one is released, you'll get that added to your Steam library upon its release. If you're not interested in getting the bundle, I would at least look at the games in it for inspiration; all of the except Cortex Command are now on Steam. (Humblebundle.com)

Apart form the bundle, I would suggest:

Frozen Synapse
A very solid turn-based strategy game in which you control a squad of soldiers in various game modes. While it does take some getting used to, it is well done with excellent, Tron-like graphics and backed by one of the best game soundtracks I've heard in a very long time. Well worth a play. But, it is sold only in two packs (buy one, get one free) so, it is best to have a friend interested. That way, you can get them into it or trade them the copy for another game.

Defense Grid: The Awakening
Simply the best tower defense game I've played. A great variety of levels, towers, and enemies makes it so it never gets boring. But, as in other tower defense games, it can get very tough if you don't have a good plan.

Has no one heard of Exit Fate yet?

Anyway, I'm still looking for a game that has a dwarf for a protagonist, a cleric that is crazy, and overall a character party with more issues than the villains. I just wish I knew what the name was...

Here's some of my picks:
- Limbo (a puzzle-platformer with amazing atmosphere and graphics, but only 3 hours long)
- Dwarfs!?
- Dungeons of Dredmor (a very funny rogue-like game)
- Solar 2

I personally put a lot of hours in music-based games like Audiosurf, Beat Hazard (with these two, you can use your own tracks) and Chime, but that's my taste.
