My suggestion isn't so much a psychological thriller as it is a mindfuck.
Neon Genesis The End of Evangelion
Oh God, the memories! They've come flooding back in a rush of fury and skullfuckery that's causing blood to shoot out of my ears!

Wait, was that the original or the remake? 'cos I've got the remake... I think it actually scared me when I first watched it a few years ago...
I think it's a remake of an extremley old movie from like 1950, but the remake itself is like thirty years old.

Saw 1 and 2 in some respects. focusing that its more on the story and plot twists than just dark and screaming.

defiantly silence of the lambs
Yep, you might want to try out Saw 1, 2 and 3, they are to some degree psychological horror movies. And also, the story is really well worked out, and you can expect a plot twist at the ending of every movie, and it's explained to you through flashbacks to earlier scenes, to which you didn't pay much attention, but were of crucial importance, all while playing the same catchy tune at the end of all movies. But the plot twists are so unbelievable, that when the movies ended I was so dumbfounded, all I could do was smile and applaud to the brilliance of the people who made the movie.

Now, the psychological aspect of these movies is focusing more on the victims, than you, because they're in these sick traps, and they have to get out doing something that hurts them, emotionally scars them and really just mindfucks with them.

The psychological horror for the viewer, is that Jigsaw (the killer) may be just right. He's teaching people to respect life, to live life, not to just sit in their basement playing videogames (j/k), and most important of all, he's fair. When he says "I want to play a game" if you play by the rules, you win, but if you try to bend or break the rules, game over. Trust me, you'll know what I mean when you watch Saw II. But what really stood with me from these movies was that they were realistic, same with silence of the lambs, there are no monsters, just one brilliant psychotic killer manipulating everyone, even though they think that they have the upper hand on him, this could happen in real life.

The first remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The Donald Sutherland one. It just creeps me right the hell out. And Kap up there is right about Session 9. I'll just add that it served as an inspiration for Silent Hill.

Andrey Iskanov´s Philosophy of a Knife (based on historical events), Hiroki Yamaguchi´s Bottled Fools and pretty much anything by David Cronenberg.

My personal favorite had a story that mindfucked you the whole time... with a concept that could have turned into "Kizz saves christmas"

I am talking about the 10/10 mindfuck horror movie of all time... Darkfloors. A movie where the monsters don't play a huge role despite them being the idea guys for the movie AND those guys being the band members of Lordi. The characters are generic, but are written so well and just mesh so perfectly you can't help but wait for some to die, and dread knowing others will eventually go. With twists and tuns that would make an abstract painter flush with envy, this movie is my top pic.

Dark Floors.

Though if you are going down the more traditional suspense slasher movie... Try the foreign film "Anatomy" Mortionists, secret anti-doctor's cult, and being turned into medical teaching tools.. it's awesome aswell

I'd recommend The Changeling, which is a much older movie, but which caused a friend of mine to snap and start laughing hysterically half way through. We had to pause so she could take a break and put her brain back together.

And I second Session 9, it was also very good.

Se7en.

That's it. Period. Go off and watch it RIGHT NOW. And after you're done, check out Fincher's other films. Almost all of them are at least worth watching. The Game is probably his best, then Se7en and Fight Club.

For me there can be no other option but Pet Sematary. As I said before this was the movie that actually traumatised me in my youth, destroyed me mentally and helped to completely eliminate my sense of fear. I'm serious it didn't just scare me, or even terrify me, it flat out destroyed me and now I can no longer feel fear.
So yeah, that's one I recommend if you think you can handle it.
I saw that. The old man has received a fair amount of exposure in South Park.

That said, there's a scene from Se7en that's far scarier than anything in Pet Sematary. It's so scary that a verbal description of what happened is all they give the audience, and it STILL scares the crap out of me.

My God My victory is short lived. The Thing was by far one of the biggest mind fuck movies I ever watched as a young boy. The whole no one is who the say they are theme struck me like a ton of bricks that movie had epic suspense!
And a very perplexing ending if I may say.
Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I don't suppose you guys know whether the PS2 game version of it was any good? I thinks its a sequel.
I'm gonna say the grudge and the first Chucky (haven't seen it in awhile, but watched it with my dad when I was seven, phobia of dolls since)

I would humbly suggest the 1997 Canadian film "Cube." I wouldn't wanna give too much away, but it's dark, brooding, and suspenseful.
