exactly what it says on the tin. Any JRPG's on PC? Preferably more recent ones. I'm already playing Septerra Core, but would want something similar to, say, Xenoblade.
Uuughh...Tell me about it. The fact that the plot dragged on and on so slowly and the main character was such a total MORON eventually killed the game for me. I mean, the battle system was neat and all, but I decided other games were more worth my time.Rush Syks said:The main character (Of the Last Remnant) is extremly annoying albeit my forum name beeing his^^
This is Japan's Betrayal at Krondor, a tragically unknown PC RPG, with actual strategic and tactical depth in both adventure (e.g. avoid and sneak attack enemy parties) and combat (turn based with grid, every character has decent set of options), and with real stories about people and life (and a touch of politics) rather than the usual dude growing up and going to kill some big bad. The fairly original (for JRPG) cast of characters helps a lot too.NuclearKangaroo said:this thing, which is apparently comming to steam
maybe someone more enlightened on the ways of JRPGs could elaborate on that, i have no idea what the game is about but it seems to have a bit of a following, its from XSEED so its likely going to be good
wait, grid? you mean like a strategy game? a la XCOM?Iori Branford said:This is Japan's Betrayal at Krondor, a tragically unknown PC RPG, with actual strategic and tactical depth in both adventure (e.g. avoid and sneak attack enemy parties) and combat (turn based with grid, every character has decent set of options), and with real stories about people and life (and a touch of politics) rather than the usual dude growing up and going to kill some big bad. More FFT than X-COM.NuclearKangaroo said:wait, grid? you mean like a strategy game? a la XCOM?Iori Branford said:This is Japan's Betrayal at Krondor, a tragically unknown PC RPG, with actual strategic and tactical depth in both adventure (e.g. avoid and sneak attack enemy parties) and combat (turn based with grid, every character has decent set of options), and with real stories about people and life (and a touch of politics) rather than the usual dude growing up and going to kill some big bad. You travel the overworld in a pretty standard jRPG way, but when you touch enemies (they are not random) you basically go into an Final Fantasy Tactics sort of combat system. It's actually a lot of fun, and is one of my favorite psp games. Also the sequel (Second Chapter) is coming to PC and PSP with help from Carpe Fulgur (also translated Recettear, Chantelise, and Fortune Summoners)
Why is it a downfall?Funyahns said:Only downfall to it is that it is considered an adult game with nudity/sex.
Yeah, its doesn't put any emphasis on terrain tho. So it's simpler in some ways but the skill system is really addicting and quite rewarding. So it might not entirely scratch that SRPG itch, but if you have ever wondered what a fusion of traditional jRPG and sRPG would look like...well here you go. I dunno how pricey it will be on steam, but last i checked it was $20 on psn, so i can't imagine the steam price would be above that. Defiantly worth a look if it is well priced, and if not it will be on sale at some pointNuclearKangaroo said:you have my attention nowAnother said:More FFT than X-COM.NuclearKangaroo said:wait, grid? you mean like a strategy game? a la XCOM?Iori Branford said:This is Japan's Betrayal at Krondor, a tragically unknown PC RPG, with actual strategic and tactical depth in both adventure (e.g. avoid and sneak attack enemy parties) and combat (turn based with grid, every character has decent set of options), and with real stories about people and life (and a touch of politics) rather than the usual dude growing up and going to kill some big bad. i might be indifferent towards RPGs (with VERY few exceptions), but if theres a genre i absolutely adore, is SRPGs, to the wishlist it goes
i think i should just accept the fact that list is never going to get smaller, no matter how many steam sales take place
