After the 26 episodes of the original series (along with directors cuts of episodes 21-24) then there is a recap movie called Death and Rebirth and then another version of the ending called End of Evangelion (this is absolutely required, you will need this).Legion said:Thanks for the recommendations.
I have bought both seasons of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (you can probably see how much I like it).
I am not sure why people keep recommending Angel Beats though, I watched a few episodes before getting sick of the constant over-the-top/exaggerated style I specifically said I didn't like...
I am down to the final three episodes of GITS:SAC, and I have ordered Neon Genesis Evangelion, although I had to get an imported copy due to it literally being impossible to buy from any UK retailer that I checked (we have a very limited "anime scene" here, unfortunately).
From what I have seen, there are some extra dvd's for them too, alternate endings as such. Are they worth looking into if I find I enjoy it?
After that however are the new Rebuild of Evangelion movies which is a quarter of the story for each movie (with only 1.11 and 2.22 released so far, with two more to be released) with updated, outstanding animation. However lots of stuff has been cut and there are quite a few changes. Therefore, you should watch the original series first.
Basically:
26 Episodes of original series -> End of Evangelion
Evangelion 1.11 -> Evangelion 2.22
