Pirate movies were the same until PotC came along and became a box office hit. There's always the chance.Axolotl said:It died in the 70's or a little before then. Sure the occasional western still gets made bu the genre as a whole is long gone. You shouldn't bother making more unless there's a good reason for it to exist.maddawg IAJI said:When did they die? Because honestly, with the success of the Young Gun movies, you would have thought that they still have some relevance in the entertainment industry.Axolotl said:Westerns died for a reason.
Personally, I'm not sure about making a movie off of Red Dead Redemption. Considering that the best part of it all to me was the Scenery and the setting. It really did feel like a Western game. That's not to say that it won't be good.
Agreed.RamboStrategy said:Can't we just let a great game be a great game and call it a fucking day?
...Please?
But Read Dead has made them slightly cooler again also for a good reason.Axolotl said:Westerns died for a reason.
But they have died. In movie form at least. Western films are gone. People have attempted to bring them back but it's always failed. The imagery is around sure but it's still gone. And as I said they died for a reason.maddawg IAJI said:I think as long as people keep looking at Cowboys as a symbol of rugged freedom from a time when the land wasn't tame and when technology didn't give us the benefits we have today, westerns will not die. It's the cowboy stereotypes that are keeping Westerns alive and as long as that keeps appealing to people, then it won't go away.
is the reason that Clint Eastwood is to old to be a baddass cowboy?Axolotl said:Westerns died for a reason.
I reckon if I has the power of control over the production, well naturally I'd cancel it, since they're gonna fuck it up anyway, but if I wasn't allowed to, I'd break the story up into three films, with the being;seryoga said:i already played the game so i know whats gonna happen...also it would probably be really long
I agree, they have died in a sense. The only way they exist now is in the form of contemporary Westerns like No Country for Old Men and Gran Torino, which have the same structure but a different setting.Axolotl said:But they have died. No Gran Torino showed us Clint is never too old to be badass.mayney93 said:is the reason that Clint Eastwood is to old to be a baddass cowboy?Axolotl said:Westerns died for a reason.
I also agree with Josh Brolin as Marston. I find this an acceptable choice.SplashyAxis said:The movie adaptation of Prince of Persia proved to me that even talented actors and filmmakers cannot make a good videogame movie, so I want to see the thought of a RDR movie (as well as all other videogame to movie adaptations) to just disappear. Fast.If a RDR movie must get made, I agree with you on Josh Brolin. When I was playing the game I was constantly reminded of him as John Marston. It still wouldn't interest me enough to watch it though.Champion360 said:I personally don't think Brad Pitt could do John Marston justice but i don't know who could maybe Josh Brolin.
