It's a helluvah lot of fun, though I end up doing more of the story missions than I tend to want to do. Because of that I feel like I'm missing out on some content like towns I haven't been to yet or some weapons that I haven't acquired yet.

Also, Five Finger Fillet is pretty much the easiest way to get $1000 in less than 5 minutes when you've memorized the combination.
Do the bets for that go up? Highest I could ever get one was $100. I started playing Liars Dice instead.

And, to answer the thread, I spend a fair amount of time working on challenges. I'm going to be a legend. And not just any legend. A legend.... OF THE WEST!

I'm concerned, because it's gotten to the point where I'm aware that most of what I'm doing is riding my horse somewhere, firing my gun a few times, and then riding back. I know myself, and know that eventually I will feel like the game is repetitive, but for right now I'm enjoying it.

The bets only go up to $100, but you can repeat the last round of FFF (Triple F!) and bet $100 each time. The combination never changes, so you can memorize it and do it over and over again so you can rack up a sizable amount of money.

Bet he wouldn't be to happy with Seth.
Also, I suppose my favorite pastime would be unlocking outfits, even if most of them aren't worth the time.
Speaking of outfits, have you unlocked the second one that has the duster outline?

For a lot of Fame and Honor just play a game of poker with the elegant suit and fail at cheating, you do a duel, shoot the guys gunhand. if you do it right it should instantly shoot him.

I've been focused on the story missions. The story actually isn't anything special, but the characters make it feel like the most epic story ever. I just can't get enough of John talking with his buds.

In the meantime, I like to do every random encounter I get, and I help strangers often. Blackjack is pretty terrible because the dealer cheats so bad, but poker is tons of fun. I haven't really tried hunting too much but I do like the challenges. Once I beat the game I'll also trophy/achievement whore the shit out of it.

I like pretending to rob trains because those fucking morons didn't put actual train robberies in a fucking western! It's a sad day when I have to fantasize, while fantasizing.

bounty hunting. good money and a lot of fun.

gathering plants is kind of tedious. hunting is kind of fun. but playing Liar's Dice is 2nd place in the fun dept.

I like collecting bounties, hunting's fun too, as is Poker. In fact, I don't think I have one specific thing I like to do most, it's all awesome.

That'd be the "Legend of the West" outfit, and I haven't unlocked it, because you need to get to rank ten in all challenges.

Here's a picture of it.

Sorry that it's a little blurry.

So I was just wondering what your favourite pass-time was? Exploring, hunting, bounty hunting, gambling, missions etc..? What do you like most about the game? What is the coolest/funniest/weirdest etc thing you've seen? Any secrets you've found you want to reveal?

Etc etc..

So?
I would recommend doing all the story missions til you kill Javier and Bill and unlock Blackwater. Then go north of Blackwater to "Tall Trees" and the mountains covered in snow. This is an extremely fun place to hunt and there is a trading post nearby where you can buy a house and save your game(just incase the grizzlies kill you). Oh, and you can play $100 poker in Blackwater, so if you get the elegant suit then you can cheat and win $400-$500 at one time!!!

Just remembered, as a secret thing, I walking through Armadillo, when I hear gun-fire and whooping. Looking behind me, I see a posse riding through town. Behind them? A guy being dragged by a lasso round his neck/waist/whatever. I would have saved him.
But I was too busy being in awe of how awesome that sight was.
I actually caught that same thing happening on film

Under the "Journal" section of the start menu, there's a part named "Challenges." They're divided into "Sharpshooter", "Hunter", "Treasure Hunter", and "Survivalist", and each has ten ranks.

I spent a good hour playing poker.

Riding up to a strangers camp fire, sitting down and sharing stories under a clear night sky is pretty magical. I haven't been that awestruck with gaming scenery since Oblivion.

I've done like, 90 percent of what there is to do in that game. All challenges beaten, legend of the west outfit unlocked, plenty of stranger missions done. Love the game to bits.

I've spent the most amount of time (outsied the story) doing the Bounty Hunter missions. I try to bring them in alive whenever possible. But if they are about to finish me off I'll put them down. Depends on the situation and how difficult it was to wipe out the gang protecting the outlaw.

It's pretty profitable too. Some of my friends who are playing the game said they had trouble earning enough money but I've got over $11,000 and I am only about 2/3 through the game. (I assume anyway, I just opened up the third area)

I'm probably gonna start a second playthrough once i've gotten 100% because i've done the whole story, challenges and most of the stranger missons. So just a few more of those and bounty hunting and i should be done.

I love hunting and bounty hunting though.
