OK, let's say you, YES YOU, have been chosen to redesign American currency, including presidents. Who would you put on what bills and coins, and why?
Mine would be:
Penny: Lincoln [Probably a bit too hard to replace this outright]
Nickel: Jefferson [See above]
Dime: Nixon [He gets too little credit, in my opinion. Yes, Watergate, but also defrosting China to the West, SALT I, and the EPA.]
Quarter: Washington [See the Penny]
Half-Dollar: FDR [Um, Great Depression get-out-of deal. Noice.]
Dollar coin: JFK [He's a handsome devil (but the kind of devil you like)]
Dollar bill: Washington [He's happy there.]
2 Dollar Bill: Hamilton [Jefferson needs more credit, Hamilton needs to sat on money.]
5 Dollar Bill: Lincoln [See dollar bill]
10 Dollar Bill: Jefferson [He switched with Hamilton!]
20 Dollar Bill: Reagan [No, screw Old Hickory. He did bad stuff with Trail of Tears. Also, Reagan has a nice haircut.]
50 dollar bill: Teddy Roosevelt [He survives gunshots.]
100 dollar bill: Franklin [Well, duh. We have the phrase "A roll of Benjamins". Be a bit awkward if it became "A roll of Martins" or "A roll of Henrys."]
500 dollar bill: Eisenhower [Because he did General stuff. And fired MacArthur, IIRC]
1000 dollar bill: Armstrong, Collins, and Aldrin [Men on the moon deserve credit.]
5000 dollar bill: Wright Bros. [They made flight.]
10,000 dollar bill: Henry Ford [Because of the Model T, dammit.]
