It's as the title says. What game did you just feel ripped off for after it's purchase?

I can't say too much, as I usually do my fair share of research before buying, but I've had a shaky experience with Lost Odyssey.
I got to just a little into disc 4 when my interest waned for a bit. I got back into finishing The Orange Box and other games, so I just left my 40-hour experience on the shelf. I tried to come back to it a few weeks ago, but I realized that I had no idea of what to do. I had the boat and I needed to get rid of a shield covering the final area. I just couldn't get back into it.

What game gritted not just your teeth, but also your wallets teeth?

Eternal Sonata.

Shut up right now. Don't even say a word. I like Chopin, I like RPGs, I like artistic stylization. Ok?

It was reviewed decently and the reviews all mentioned the characters being interesting and the dialogue being well done.

They weren't at all. It suffered from the classic Line-Pause-Line-Pause-Line formula.

Alone in the Dark for 360, I'd preordered it and it's the first time I'd made a purchase without reading any reviews. It looked nice but it was just two clunky to play.

I.... I agree with Meatloaf and add to the pile: Dawn of War: Soulstorm.

It was lacking, to say the least. Sure, Dark Eldars are cool, but the Campaign was the same old garbage, the Ecclesiarchy (I might've spelled that right.) was made of fail, and nearly no one bought it, so there's next to no one to play online.

Eternal Sonata was terrible... I don't even want to think about it.

Also, Cabela's big hunt. That is a terrible, terrible game.

Edit: And Civilization Revolution, should have been fun, but it was dumbed down way too much.

The Eye of Judgment.

I sunk about 80 bucks into the cards and made a killer deck, and I didn't...findanyoneto...play with.

Heavenly Sword, but not for the reason you'd think. About 4 days later, I added up my finances and realised I didn't have enough to buy my mum a birthday present. I had to return it. Second game I got for my Ps3, and I couldn't keep it a week...
To be fair though it only lasts about 20 minutes anyway.

Games I regrett buying? Hundreds of them. In the room right now.

Skate (great game. played it for about an hour. Bought at launch)
Enchanted Arms (shit game, haven't touched it. Bought at launch)
Army of Two (urgh. Played about 3 levels of it. Bought at launch)
Mass effect (urgh, played up until the first mission thing then bought in on pc and never played it. Both at launch)
Table Tennis (Bought at launch but can't play it because I'm colour blind)
Kameo (about 3 minutes of it.)
Oblivion (360 Now I own about 3 copies of it.)
Lost planet (came out on pc. Bought at launch)
Stranglehold (shittyish, bought at launch)

aaaaand

Folklore (repetitive. Bought at launch)
Motorstorm (Crappy. Came with my ps3)
Devil May cry 4 (shitty. Better on the 360, then the pc)

aaaaaaaaAAAAND

Sonic Wii thing (crappy.)
No more heroes (overrated. Bought at launch)
SSMB (Pointless. Bought at launch)
Legend of Zelda the twighlight princess (seen it all before. Okami was better)

Sounds like we should be forming an Eternal Sonata rehab/support group here...
Was it really that bad?
Not really, but it was incredibly underwhelming. And way too easy.

Shadowrun. Do i really need to elaborate?
Two Worlds collectors edition, and i quote"the game to beat Oblivion" this game was so crap in comparison it hurt.

Admittedly if you play Two Worlds for more than three hours you become addicted.

I am, thanks to my girlfriend, atrociously wealthy for a man who washes dishes for a living. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and worry that I'm conclusive proof god doesn't exist.

Edit: I don't mind short games. I just think Heavenly Sword was 'too' short it seemed to me like there should have been more to it.

Regarding Eternal Sonata:

I aslo found the dialogue (and most of the story) to be over the top and (for the dialogue) repetitive. I turned the language to japanese (which thankfully I have all but forgotten how to speak) and made a sandwich each time there was a scene with long dialogue.

Side note: I hate Eternal Sonata because I got fat from eating too many sandwiches.

I wanted to love Eternal Sonata so much. But it never seemed to leave the 'set up' phase of an rpg storyline. I thought we were about a fifth of the way through the game when me and my girlfriend completed it.

Also having to complete the game once to unlock a difficulty that isn't designed with single cell organisms in mind is just insulting.

Thank you for making me laugh about that game.

EDIT: Did anyone else notice the fact that Eternal Sonata had co-op? Seriously. It did. You could have three people playing, each controlling a party member in combat, but because it was turn based this was about as effective as passing the controller around.

It became a running joke that we should go play Eternal Sonata co-op every time my friends and I were bored.

Well I'm glad that at least one person is better off from me playing that game.

I agree with Doctorpus about the length. I would have returned it if I knew I had almost finished it. But the seven days I had to return it in had just passed once I reached the end. I had to wait through the credits (thinking hopefuly 'maybe it will continue on') and saw some odd animation about a catipilar or something, but unfortunately It was in japanese (and for some reason there was no subtitles) so I had no fucking clue what was going on.

Edit: I did the entire story with my brother. We haven't done three player for more than ten minutes (at the most) before the thrid person got bored. Probably since they didn't feel the need to justify buying the peice of shit like I did.
