I just asked the girl I've liked out and she said yes! I'm riding a wave of happiness so I've decided to spread it around. Share your success story or greatest moment!
I honestly don't understand the "asking out" thing.

Seems like a slightly more subtle version of declaring a woman your mate and asking if she's okay with that.

I wouldn't say that, for me it was more:
Me: I like you
Her: I like you too
Me: yay! Wanna go see a movie?
Her: Sure!
blah blah and so forth.

I don't think I claimed her. The only possessive language I've used since then is: my girlfriend, in the same way she uses: my boyfriend.

The recent usage of the term generally implies that two people (generally younger folk) have declared they are each others boyfriend/girlfriend; often without doing anything that builds emotional connections between them and entails holding hands and calling each other "baby".

I assumed that was what you meant, considering I've seen a great deal of that and less of the "asked her out on a date", conventional terminology.

But in that case: It's just a date.

My first one was a train-wreck. Went to a movie and sat in the dark and said nothing to one another. I have the ticket somewhere in a moldy shoebox...Long forgotten with good riddance.

I would say "I've got nothing", but it's been more, like, a few pretty unsuccessful ones.

I'm currently single and greatly enjoying the playful flirting of a few potential girlfriends. I'm in no hurry to choose one---I'm way too busy for a relationship right now beyond maybe a long-distance with a girl from out of state (since I'm on the Internet so damn often as a general rule).

I find that the old saying about "love finds you when you least expect it" is absolutely true. Just about all of my major relationships in life have been the result of that adage.

Um, I maxed out some S. Links in Persona 3? That's the most romantic thing to ever happen in my life. God, I'm pitiful.

Well... there is this one girl in Minnesota
Does she have a sister?

I feel like that sums up my current situation rather succinctly.
Haha, she does... 16 years old and dating my older brothers best friend.

my first and only girlfriend thus far was a good friend of mine for a few months, then I fell for her, asked her out, she said yes, and we were together. 3 weeks.

Well, I currently have extremely strong feelings that I believe they share for me as well.

So...yeah. My first real success in any relationship.

Hurray... I guess...
If Julianking is happy, 93.7% of the Escapist is happy!
Indeed we are <3

OT: I am dating a man who is everything I never knew I wanted, and a good portion of it would never have come about if I hadn't said on this very forum that I was interested in him :) and he is the first to lay claim to me by giving me a collar to wear when I'm with him. So yeah.

A collar? Does it make me a complete deviant that I know exactly why? (you're not the only one into such things, although as my other thread hints, even I have my limits on such matters.)

I've been in a relationship for always two years. I suppose that this counts as a 'relationship success'.

It does not make you a deviant :) it makes you that much more awesome.

I know I'm not the only Escapist into that sort of thing... there seem to be several of us. But as far as I know, we're not a majority here. :33 unfortunately. It's for intelligent people. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BrainsAndBondage]

Gah! TV Tropes! Save me, Eddie! P-p-p-p-please! (actually, I've had my night consumed by Good Eats episodes on YouTube, which is even more addictive than TV Tropes!)
