theyre just a publisher, and dont take much direct interest in any games that arent attached to money-spewing franchises, leaving many developers to slave and toil for their labors of love while people like OP to make threads like this to give EA the credit for it.
EA is too god damn big a corporation to blame. it is composed of hundreds or thousands of normal, possibly decent people whose bosses happen to have grown bold and greedy as the innocence of their trade is lost and they learn better and better ways to make money off us.
EA was good in the beginning because everything is good when its small and struggling and innocent. then they discovered sports franchises and it all went downhill from there. the masters at EA found a way to rise from the muck, to no longer struggle and no longer be challenged, and like any other people they grew greedy and petty.
i wont list any games, because i have no idea what if any effort EA put into the actual development of a title for the benefit of the actual title, and not just to fill their coffers; that isnt evil, thats their business. any good that came from any publisher is likely a miracle of circumstance.
thanking EA would be akin to russia thanking the snow that froze napoleon's troops instead of the soldiers and generals who made a plan and took advantage of it. yes the snow helped...then. other times you wish it would just go the fuck away. EA is the same; sometimes developers can use it to their advantage, sometimes they want it to just go away. both are forces that act of their own accord with no concern for how you might benefit from it.
