Anyone else remember this game? I loved it. Smart ai, cool weapons, great locals, and halo-sequel shooting.
Such a shame it didn't get a sequel, it certainly deserved it.

Less like Halo and more like Unreal - it used the Unreal Engine after all.

I loved the multiplayer on the PC, and took part in a number of tournaments as part of one of the largest clans playing the game at the time. The shotgun was always a favourite - it was highly unwieldly, but damn, if you knew how to handle it, you could wipe out the entire opposing team single-handledly. Still haven't found a rifle in a game I love as much as the DC-17 either.

Awww yissssss.

I love this game. It was my first FPS, and I suppose you could argue that I have some powerful nostalgia goggles, but I think this is one of the best FPS games I've played. I've heard a lot of praise for the squad system.

Admittedly, the ending was pretty bad. But I seem to recall reading that their funding was cut so they weren't able to complete the campaign. And Imperial Commando was a planned sequel which I don't think ever formally entered development.

Great little game. Played it 4-5 years ago (I think) so my memory's not so great but I remember really enjoying it basically the whole way through. Guns felt good and varied, squadmates were all fun in their own way and could actually follow orders (even if they were basically retarded when not following orders) and the story was surprisingly enjoyable for something that was Star Wars but wasn't the Original Trilogy.

Huh, I played it a few years back when all the Star Wars games were on sales and I thought it was rubbish. I think the worst part was how terribly mind-numbing I found the combat. From what I remember, your standard blaster took for ever to kill anything but standard battle droids, sounded weak, had zero recoil, and had just enough of a wide firing cone to cause rage, and I couldn't even use it as a main weapon because of a lack of ammo. I had to use the pistol almost half the time. The two other weapons that weren't disposable pickups, the sniper rifle and the grenade launcher, had just enough ammo to kill a super battle droid once a while.

I don't remember the levels being that interesting either, and they were sprinkled with just enough "do something instead of doing nothing" spots to tell teammates to go towards. Apart from that, I didn't think the squad focus added much.

As far as Star Wars shooters go, I think Dark Forces trumps it easily.

Really liked it and had a very good tone, it did the whole grim and dark Star Wars a lot better then most other attempts, in there it actually fits as it never tries to be over dramatic.

In the end it was a bit of a Rainbow Six: Star Wars Edition

I actually bought it on Steam a few months ago and played through it. It was a great game and a really refreshing experience for a first person shooter.

I was actually surprised at how good the AI was especially since your so reliant on them, i'll probably give it multiple playthroughs again in the future.

Remember it? I brought it up just last week for the "Game music that makes you want to kick some ass!" thread. And seriously, if Disney wants to get in Star Wars fans' good graces, I have three words for them that would be a great start: "Republic Commando 2"

Really good game, I have always liked it. It did fun things with squad mates and made them actually feel useful.

I really enjoyed the structure of the game's singleplayer. Three campaigns, each built like an operation, and the way they escalated was really neat. I think my favorite is aboard the Ghost Ship when the squad gets separated. It's surprisingly atmospheric without giving up action.

This, basically. Though playing Dark Forces gave me a headache.

Of course I do. Great game. Fantasitc artwork with the somewhat bleaker universe from the clone's perspective. I wanted to know what happened to the missing clone at the end. And how the squad would deal with order 66. Thanks, Lucasarts.

Ah, Republic Commando. A great game, well deserving of a sequel. It's a shame that we will never really get one though.

I enjoyed it. There are a lot of garbage star wars games, but RC was above average for the most part for its time.

Unfortunately it hasn't aged well. Weapons feel kind of whimpy, which is weird since Star Wars weapons have always had oomf as far back as Dark Forces (love the E-11 Rifle and Bryar Pistol). Team AI is pretty dumb, sometimes frustratingly so.

But it offered a unique vantage point and experience to the star wars universe that hadn't been explored much at that point in time. Playing as what would amount to Canon fodder for jedis of other games, yet seeing them work together competently to tackle impossible odds. It's definitely a more flattering image of the clones then the prequels ever shat out.

I found it immensely satisfying shooting Droids in that game. I also really liked their take on Wookies and Trandoshans. Also the Trandoshans weapons were great (they had oomf).

It feels like a rushed game at points, but I'm still hopeful for a sequel at some point in the future, direct or spiritual.

Also, as with most star wars games, the Music really pulls you into the game.

I guess I'm one of those weird people. I liked the game and I played through it completely all the way, but it didn't blow my mind like so many others.

I guess it comes down to the fact that I was expecting a slightly different game. I get that they were commandos, but I was hoping I would get to be part of battles. The intro was fun, where you're running through the battle of Geonosis, but after that you're always doing behind-the-scenes stuff. I wanted to be out in the action at some points, fighting alongside regular old grunts.

Then there's the fact that it ended on a cliffhanger that never got resolved. That bugged me to no end. If the game ever does get a sequel and they explain what happens, then I'm on board.

Yeah the cliffhanger ending was pretty annoying. It's probably one of the weakest parts of the game in my opinion. But like I said, I'm pretty sure the devs' budget got cut so they couldn't finish it like they planned.

I had that game once upon a time, then I didn't, then years later I got it again.
Oh man, it was awesome. Barely remember anything but I just remember it being awesome.
Don't have it anymore, maybe, maybe I'll see it again someday.
