The game is very fun, but it is extremely similar to RE4.
The controls are still just as terrible, but once you're are used to them they don't really become a bother too often.
The Co-op is very fun, though. I'm currently playing a co-op game with one of my friends in the hardest difficulty, and I have to say that if you can beat that mode with an A.I. partner, then you are amazing at that game

It is a complete rehash of RE4, and guess what, that is not a bad thing. RE4 rocked, so I don't mind more of it. The game changing device that steps it above RE4 is the obvious two person play, which is realy good. People complain about the controls, they are the same as RE4, so if you liked RE4, stop complaining. Are the controls bad? After playing Dead Space, I would say the Dead Space controls/movement is better. The campain mode is a little short, but there is tons of replay value, especially with alternate difficulties, upgrades and unlockables, and Mercinaries.

The graphics are amazing, but I do wish they would update the sound elements. It has the exact same sound elements as RE4, just in 5.1. I would hope that the step change from RE4 to RE5 (co-op being the biggest change) will transfer to RE6. Not meaning keep co-op, but continue to improve (like change the controls). Maybe 4 player co-op and a verses mode where you can play as the infected (yeah, go ahead and steel from L4D).

Oh, and for frak's sake, GET RID OF QUICK TIME EVENTS!

I enjoyed the quick time events in RE4 during the battle with Krauser, but otherwise, I'd prefer to see less of them in the future.
They don't seem to appear as often in RE5 cutscenes so far (Unless I'm after forgetting a bunch of them...).

Think the only reason people say the controls are unintuitive are because they aren't the same as the countless other games that have guns in them, I personally like the way the controls work though I would prefer a wii version as I loved the wii edition of resi 4 but I doubt that will happen as the wii would melt itself inside out under the strain.

is it or has anyone else noticed

Resident evil 5, the most talked about and controversial, and even loved games out at the moment, is just an exact replica of resident evil 4
WRONG! Resident Evil 4 was actually good.

Anyone who has played the ending, will see why a shit game got down right unacceptable.
Bold statement, though I disagree. I find both games to be very good. Five had a big reputation to uphold. As far as comparing it to four I'd say it's like comparing a perfectly clean white shirt to another white shirt that has a little spot of ketchup down towards the bottom that no one can even see when you're sitting. I must say though that I beat the game co-op so I didn't have to deal with Sheva's(sp?) AI. That is the only variable I can't account for.

as a fan of RE4, I've come to realize that the world moves forward and that no game is an island. after playing Dead Space, I felt that RE5 was a step backward on the "controls" front.

that said, i don't mind quicktime events at all; they make the action of a cutscene matter. i realize that Yahtzee seems to have popularized the idea of quicktime hating, but i encounter them so infrequently in gaming that i have nothing to tire of.

I have come to terms with quick time events... although they can still be kind of lame.

I can't tell you how many times Mendez fuckin killed me in that barn the first time I played RE4.... I HATED quick time events for that very reason. But, I played RE4 many more times and it's crazy fun still. the QTEs in it were acceptable for the most part.

But I think the most recent game I played with some lame QTEs was The Force Unleashed.... it seemed pretty lame to use QTEs just to show off some stylish moves for finishing off enemies.

I think they're pretty fun for cinematics because it keeps you somewhat involved in the game and story as you watch. Even if they're as simple as in Metal Gear Solid 3 & 4
