I loved the demo on PS3 and since its cheap on Steam right now, I am thinking of getting it.

Is it any good?

Also don't say "becuase it uses GFWL its bad" becuase I could really care less of what it uses.

I've played it on the PC and it works out fine, atleast it did for me.
Some of the pre-set key bindings can be awkward to use but they can be changed to make it more comfortable, However this may also make it an arse to do some of the quick-time events that randomly crop up.
I've had no problems with it thus far (apart from the usual complaints such as the partner AI being an arse to work with) and the PC exclusive "No Mercy" mode is really fun to play.

I've played it for about 10 minutes and left it in disgust; it suffers from badly ported console game syndrome, and my major gripe is with the mouse controls. If they're going to take the effort to port the game you think they would at least sort out the mouse wouldn't you as its the primary control interface for shooters on the pc.... *sigh*
Just chalk it up to the list of games ruined by half arsed control porting, which sadly is growing at an alarming rate, bioshock 2 for example was almost ruined by it, and both bioshock and rainbow six vegas needed ini hacks to even be playable with a gaming mouse.... just lazy is what it is.

hm... I might still get it, people said Saints Row 2 was a bad port and that only lagged and glitched on me once in 21 hours.

I don't ever really listen to the bad port arguments becuase for some reason I never seem to have any problems.

Well aren't you lucky mr cocky.

Like I said, i only played it for a matter of minutes so I can't speak for the graphics/engine port, I imagine that aspect is just fine, its specifically the mouse control which is awful. if that sort of thing doesn't bother you then go ahead, i'm sure you'll find it all ok. however if like me you want to be able to move your mouse more than an inch without your character spinning 360 about 5 times then you might be disappointed.

To be frank any FPS game in which I can't easily achieve 10"/360 sens gets marked down for controls so far as i'm concerned, i'm sure the average gamer isn't so fussy (or even knows what i'm talking about).

Maybe I'm just easily please, but I played RE5 on both 360 and PC. Both of which I liked. I did play on the PC with a 360 controller, as I like playing 3rd person games with a controller. No hassle in that, the game changes the buttons for you. Did play with Keyboard and Mouse also and didn't find anything astoundingly bad (F and V are awkward buttons to get to in Quick Time Events. Not eye gougingly bad though.). I'd say it's easier because with the controller used you get the laser like on console, but with Keyboard and Mouse you get a crosshair. Much easier to aim with a crosshair.

I love the game in general. I understand it strays away from Classic RE horror. Trading it in for Action packed-ness. Then again though, I'm a sucker for games that are built with Co-op in mind. RE is fun. RE with a friend is fun-er.

tl;dr version:

I've played it on both console and PC. Didn't find anything wrong with the PC version. Works with Controller. Love the Co-op. Liked the demo? Sounds like you'll like the full game. Might as well get it while it's cheap. Less of a hit if you end up not liking it for some reason.

Its not that I am trying to be cocky its just what happens for me.

Vegas 2 worked well, Bioshock 2, Red Faction: Gurellia...

You can't tell me you didn't notice any problems with the mouse in bioshock 2!? its was simply awful, for one you had to hack an ini file to get the sens to a reasonable level, but even then the sens would vary though the levels with a mind of its own, and every time you go to the menu its resets your mouse settings again. Even a high sens gamers who left the setting alone would still notice the varying sens at the beginning of the levels and at transition areas... surely?

Just google the phrase "bioshock 2 mouse sensitivity" if you think i'm making this stuff up.

Resident Evil 5 is fine for the PC, the only problem with it is, if you wanted the DLC like Versus, Desperate Escape or Lost In Nightmares, you can't get them on the PC version because Capcom seems to hate the PC community and thinks we are all pirates.

Other than that, I would say it runs and looks better than the console version, plus it has No Mercy mode.

Aside from the mentioned missing DLC, Resident Evil 5 is a solid port on the PC. It runs perfectly for me. My friend and I played through it multiple times without a single issue. Half the time was via LAN and the rest was online.

After struggling with the controls for a day or so I bought an XBox 360 controller to play the PC version of SR2. It works pretty well. The main problem with that game is that it's almost unplayable (cars handle like crap and frame rate drops to zero when there's a lot of action going on - as there is constantly) unless your playing on something that's significantly better than the 'recommended' system requirements.

The absence of DLC is pretty lame, yes.

But, I had quite a bit of fun with co-op with my friend online. So that was good. Honestly though, the DLC isn't anything special, however it is a bit of a drag they would do something like that. I simply cannot go back to my PS3 copy of RE5, because I can run graphics maxed out on PC. Full anti-aliasing and everything, great fidelity. Console version, not so much.

Odd, I downloaded and beat Resident Evil 5 on PC and my only gripe (besides the horrible inventory system) was the mouse acceleration which is fixed by turning off VSync.

I had no problems with the game, other than wonky controls, which you can customize anyway you like to make it intuitive.

I say go for it, but make sure your PC can run it, first. Also, if you can run it in DX10, all the better.

I think it was well made, it has never crashed on me, works fine with USB 360 controller

Got it on steam too
