I dont care if it is resident evil or not, I may not be a "true fan" or whatever the fuck the elitist bastards say, but what I DO know is that, FOR ME, it was a FUN GAME. I liked it.

Thats all I care for.

Actually, i remember quite a few people who hated RE4 (me included) when it came outand i don't remember anybody saying that it was the "greatest game of all time". Resident evil, when it came out, was one of the most well known games at that time, and because of how it was a horror game. It wasn't known for action, it was known for being horror.

The change that resident evil did, going from survival horror to generic action, would be like the battlefield series going from a millitary shooter to a farming simulator.

I've also never actually heard anybody ever call resident evil 1-3 "boring" and "stale". The only person who i've ever seen that didn't like resident evil, didn't like it because of the controls (and yeah, the controls were pretty bad, especially the port to PC for RE3).

Well, considering that I have now beaten RE6 (Or at least part of it)...I'd say that it's pretty Resident Evil-y.

Just throwing out a random example, there's a point where in one of the stories, you're trapped inside of a ship that's about to go under. The door leading to the hanger, the only way to escape, is locked with three keycards because WHY NOT? A new enemy is introduced here that can't be killed but can be incapacitated for a moment. However, in areas with water (Mind you, this is a partially flooded ship) they can't be incapacitated at all because they use the water to revive themselves. Also, damaging them enough causes them to split into two pieces, which will eventually form two new entities. They're also more or less immune to melee attacks, as most of the higher tier enemies are. Another feature is that they'll tear off their arms and throw them at you, which will damage/blind/restrain you while they slither closer to finish you off. The disembodied arms are also autonomous and will chase you independently of the host.

Tight corridors, infinitely replicating enemies that are effectively immortal, and you've just come out of a series of large firefights with NU soldiers, so ammo was likely running a bit tight from the beginning without the ability to fall back on melee if you run completely dry. Gets pretty tense.

Edit: Also, for some asinine reason you have to swipe each keycard independently, which means that the monsters have enough time to catch up with you if you managed to shake them.
I totally agree with that part. I believe it is Chris's campaign that you are refering too. there are parts of the game that are reminiscent of the old Resident Evil games. I found a few other moments as well. The whole Jake and Sherry running from Ustank was like with Resident Evil 3. And I don't think there was a lot of ammo either, people are saying there is so much ammo but in reality there really wasn't. I would pick up points mostly. And I would have to search for a crate to find ammo. Leon's campaign had a horror atmopshere to it. And for those who don't know... playing the rest of the campaigns gives you more insight as to how they and other characters got to where they are. I hated those monsters and I believe they were also in the Jake/Sherry campaign as well.

I think if you enjoy a game that is all that matters.

i understand the OP and mostly agree. too many people are WAY TOO QUICK to cast off a game and give it the finger for almost no reason.

my method? never listen to the mob. they over hype games that are shit and they hate games that are good. as an individual, i don't think i will ever share identical feelings with the mob, which is why i just ignore them now.

as for Resident Evil 6. well... i'm not too impressed with how it's looking. I MIGHT get it one day, on sale, when it's cheaper, or a quick rental or something. it's not something that i'm dying to spend $60 on. (though almost nothing ever is for me lol)

Innovation is always good i believe. That is, if it's truly innovative and no just a simple change into something that's already been done but is more successful. turning RE into an action game? wasn't done for innovation, was done for modernization and business. though i will admit that RE4 was a bit different than most 3rd person shooters and it was actually the first time RE felt original and different. (original RE's are total rip-offs of Alone in the Dark) However copy & paste for RE5 and people aren't going to be as happy the 2nd time around.

this happens with anything that's TOO successful, artists/companies usually fail to surpass their previous A+ work. the fans start to expect too much and it becomes unrealistically impossible to impress anybody after that.
I agree with your last statement. I think Capcom bit off more than they could chew this time. They tried to appeal to many people and this has caused a divide between players. Capcom is a business and it needs to keep up with the times and be modern, it can't do a remake of Resident Evils 1,2,3, etc and still be considered modern. It may work for the die hard fans but it probably wouldn't appeal to everyone as a whole and i think that is what capcom was trying to do with this installment. Fans want this and that and other thing and then Capcom doesn't know what to do anymore. Overall it was a fun game. I love your tid bit on the rip off of alone in the dark. I bet fans of that series was made a Resident Evil for that reason

Can someone please tell me what all these CoD comparisons are about? Or is that just the buzz word to use when talking about your dislike for this game?
Finally!!! someone who understands me. I don't get all the COD comparsions myself. It isn't nearly as action-esque as that game. I have played those types of games so i know. I think it is code to talk about this dislike of the game. Trust me COD etc are much worse than Resident Evil 6. The only campaign I see that could be considered COD like is the Chris one.But he is part of the military so that makes sense though in context.
