"Me, I'm going in. First man in, last man out. Ray, give me a boost." He nodded and walked over to me, bent down and cupped his hands. I stepped on his hands and his arms strained. "1, 2, 3!" I jumped up and grabbed the edge of the vent. I was in.

"Whose first?" I was about to help Natalie up when I felt a bump against my leg. I pulled my Glock out and turned round. What I saw could only be described as a large mite. It had a tough green exoskeleton in overlapping segments. Large, sharp mandibles opened and closed. I fired my Glock and it exploded. Only for more to come round the corner. They started to spit acid at me and it flew past my head, fizzing on the metal behind me. I felt a nip on my leg. A mite had managed to bite me. Instantly I started to feel drowsy. And the last thing I saw was a vine, pulling me away from my team-mates.

i looked at david as Ray helped him to climb into the vent.

"ok, i'm next, Ray give me a hand." Ray cupped his hand like he had done with David and i put me foot in his hands. David was in the vent, ready to help me climbing up. Suddently, i saw him look back and draw his gun. My leg was too painfull for me to jump to the vent.

"Ray, quick, push me up!" Rayt manage to push me high enough so that i could grab the vent's edge. I heard gunshot in the vent.

i climbed half into the vent, then i saw a wine holding David by the leg, and trying to pulling him away. there was also insect like creatures that was on him. i shot one, and the other try to spit acid at me, but i manage to avoid it. David was almost out of my reach, but i grab his collar before the wine pulled him away too far. i could feel that the wine was pulling harder. I shot a second insect, but a third one manage to hit my hand with his acid spit. i screamed and my gun fell out of the duck. The wine pull even harder and it pulled me into the vent. i was almost completly in, only my feet were stopping me to being pulled with David.

i yelled :"I need a hand in here guys !"

I quickly pulled out my M1911A1 and started firing. I was hitting the creatures but I was also losing ammo. I emptied the clip and loaded up the last one I had. "Guys im gonna need a little more ammo here, im down to my last clip"

Eryn heard David say that he was going into the vent first. All of a sudden gunshots could be heard and David was being pulled in by some sort of monster. Then Nathalie tried to rescue David but was hit with the acid. Eryn handed Jason a clip. She only had one left so she would have to use is carefully. Eryn jumped with help from Ray and managed to grab Nathalie's legs. She knew that Nathalie's leg was hurt so pulling on it would make it worse but she had to take the chance. "Hold on!" Eryn pulled as hard as she could. "Don't let go of David!"

i grabbed David vest with both hands, and hang on to it the best i could. Eryn was yelling behind me, and she grabbed my leg. The pain hit me like lightning bolts when she pulled on my already wounded leg.

i manage to yell to her : "cmon, dont be a wuss and pull harder, that thing is winning"

Eryn heard Nathalie's yell at her. "Geez even when your in trouble you still manage to talk crap about me." Eryn pulled even harder. She managed to pull them out a little but it still wasn't enough. Pulling the weight of two people and a monster wasn't easy. "I need some help guys! I can't pull the both of them by myself."

I grabbed Eryn's waist and helped her pull the heavy load up.
"Hehe, good job I was here eh?" I winked comically.

"Hang on, I'll be right there!!!!" I shouted and moved to help Eryn keep the captain with us. "Come on, PULL!!!" I grunted as I Pulled on Davids vest

Everybody seemed to be straining to get David out of the vent. I pulled a concussion grenade out of my vest, and started to hand it up the ladder of people that were pulling on David.

"Ey, get this to David" I handed the grenade to Nathalie. "Throw it," I yelled. "And David choo might want to cover your ears."

Ryan felt helpless hearing everyone yelling because he couldn't do anything at the moment. He looked around the room making sure everything was secure. "You guys need help up there?!" he shouted, hoping someone in the vent would hear over all the yelling.

Aileen shakes off her paralysis. "Eryn, can I help?!"

Eryn heard Thomas' comment and couldn't help but laugh a little. She quickly shook it off and hear Aileen. Eryn shook her head at Aileen. "Yeah help me pull these two out."

She grabs Eryn's ankles and pulls carefully.

i grabded the grenade. and pull the pin with my teeth. "i'm not sure it's a good idea..."

i looked at David, he wasnt counsious enough to cover his ears. i trew the grenade as far i could. The sound of the blast was amplified by the vent. i had the impression of bieng in the middle of an atomic explosion.

Suddently i fell that the thing let david loose, and the weight of the other pulled us out of the vent. i felt on my back. i stayed there for a moment. "i'm going last next time"

When the grenade went off Eryn felt everyone last go and fell from the blast. I fell on top of Thomas and Aileen. I quickly got off of them but stayed on the floor. "Thats it. No more vents. Ever."

Eryn got up and dusted herself off. She looked around the room. "So how do we get out now?"

"Eryn, if we knew that, do you think we'd still be sat here? God damnit, I miss my cigarettes..." I looked down at the empty pocket in my vest where the cigarette packet would have been.

"I guess we should just wait for orders, either that or have one of these." I pulled out a can of Coca-Cola which I had salvaged from one of the vending machines.

I Colapsed backwards onto the floor with a thud, I sat up quickly, feeling a little shell shocked. I quickly regained my sences a bit later, "I'm with you on that, I have a feeling the next time I have to go duct crawling in Half Life i'm going to freak out if i get attacked." I said. I was trying to keep our spirits up even if not many people would want to listen.

Ray and I seemed to be the only ones not exhausted. I punched Ray on the arm, and he smiled.

"Well people, I think we should just take a few mintues to relax and gather our senses. Or at least wait until David is awake enough to give orders." I sat down in the back with Ray, and pulled out a canteen of Hot Damn. I took a long draught from the flask and passed it to Ray, where he drank some also.

I muttered to Ray. "Sweet grenade huh? Did you hear the blast off that thing" Ray smiled, laid his head back, and closed his eyes.

i was laying back on the floor, staring at the vent when i remebered that there was something in there. i quickly try to get up, but my wounded leg was too painfull and i fall on the floor again.

"guys, wait, there was bugs up there with us. And david wasnt counscious long before the grenade went off. He might not be himself anymore..."

i inspected David's legs, and i found just what i was looking for.

"look, he have been bitten... i think we better tied him, just in case."

"Oh no." I said, Not david, Not the captain, I dident want to lose more people, We'd allready lost Coventon, more people would be even worse. We tied him up, we couldent take the chance that he may become one of them.
