My favorite band is Clutch [http://pro-rock.com/v6/main.html], and I believe that it is a travesty that they are not better known. Their music is amazing - they have a singular groove/funk/metal sound, sounding almost like a completely different band from album to album and even song to song. Their technical ability is amazing (they have an instrumental alter-ego band called The Bakerton Group which is nearly as good). The lyrics are layered and thought-provoking. And they work their asses off, touring almost constantly. I strongly recommend that you give 'em a listen.

I recall hearing Clutch the first time when you linked to this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU7DVQSOlnQ] in a topic asking about age. I've been listening to them since, they're epic.

Sorry if it was said earlier, but I'm going to go with Electric Six, I know they're fairly well-known on The Escapist (from my experience), but where I live (Virginia, USA) I don't know anybody else who has ever heard of them. I did get to see them live a few weeks ago, it was epic.
