Jet Force Gemini, aka my avatar! Fun little action platformer, with great music and a nice co-op mode as well.

Another fun game would be Hybrid Heaven, what I can only describe as a turn based fighting RPG. This game gets insane pretty quickly and its one hell of a ride.

I chose these because they aren't as well known but are pretty good none the less.

EDIT: If you're into wrestling games (even if you might not be) then WWF No Mercy is a must have, I can remember playing that game for so long and getting absorbed in the character creator.

Mario Kart 64. Soon I'm hoping to get Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, maybe some wrestling games, and of course Majora's Mask. Ah, MM, first time I ever saw up a girl's skirt.

Extreme G (absolutely amazing music, one of my favourite N64 games)
Damn It! I completely forgot about Extreme G! A great racing game that my friends and I enjoyed! Laughs were had, Shit was talked, and only once was a cord wrapped around someones throat!

I still remember my favorite bike in that game.

Ogre Battle 64
Get it, you'll love it and demand a remake or sequel.
This!

Probably in my top 10 favorite games of all time, why they never really went back to that combat style drives me insane.

There was a starwars racing one. Can't recall the name, and I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but I recall that being loads of fun.

Why has nobody said Goemons Great Adventure? It's probably the best co op platformer out there, especially when coupled with it's hilarious storyline, amusing characters, giant robot battles, great music, and awesome japanese voice overs.

As for me I would 2nd "Blast Corps" and "Turok 2" both of them are really good. My #1 underrated N64 gem was always "Tetrisphere".

My Captcha: orkshist 200, neither wikipedia or google had heard of "orkshist"

Most of all of these could already have been mentioned, but these are what I would recommend:

Perfect Dark
Banjo-Kazooie
Resident Evil 2
Super Mario 64
Super Mario Kart 64
Banjo-Tooie
Donkey Kong 64
Star fox 64
Legend of Zelda: Majoras mask
Super smash brothers
Paper Mario

These are all good games that would be well worth buying. When I think about it, the Nintendo 64 was a great console. I played my Nintendo 64 more than I played my Nintendo Gamecube.

I don't know if this has been suggested yet, but it might be a good idea to check this out:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_64_games

This might have a couple of games that are worth looking into.
