I like the forums. I also enjoy ZP, EC, Jimquisition, Escape to the Movies, Big Picture and Miracle of Sound. That's where it ends, though; i've never looked at any of the podcasts or had any interest in things that aren't directly related to video games, such as those Loading Ready Run videos, those parody Escapist News Network videos, that new drinking games thing and so on. I'm actually not a huge fan of live action stuff period so the cartoon animated aesthetics of ZP and EC appeal to me instantly, and Jimquisition thankfully spends the majority of its time talking over gameplay footage, like Moviebob does with his film reviews. A couple of things that bother me about the Escapist is that both the staff and the users seem to view their opinion as fact. I find the reviews here are a little bit too subjective, and while that's personal taste, it causes a lot of ruckus in the comments and forum sections. You also feel berated by MovieBob if you disagree with his opinions because he always seems to present them as fact. I also feel the moderators can sometimes be unnecessarily harsh and i think we should be able to talk about certain blacklight topics more openly than we can. Lastly, users here have a habit of getting swept away with memetic trends, á la the whole "My Little Pony" fiasco, and it can even degenerate to the point of posting huge pictures that take up a large section of the page just to post a "Y U No" image or something to that effect. It also irritates me when people post memes as their responses, such as somebody taking the time out to write a lengthy dialogue, and the reply is quite literally "Cool story bro". Keep that out of these forums and back to Something Awful.
