I'm stunned. Absolutely stunned.
Some people found F.E.A.R's AI to be...bad or cookie cutter? Seriously? We played the same games here?
What sort of FPS games do you play? I've never seen a team of computers flank me expertly, flush me out with grenades and then gun me down like a dog, outside of that game.
Halo's AI is pretty much "Step from side to side. Hit with superduper sniper skills of fucking unfairness". FarCry has much the same.
F.E.A.R's AI is something closer to "first take cover. then find where the enemy is. then send a group to sneak around and corner him. then flush him out. then open fire".
F.E.A.R out-smarts me. I'm pretty damn good at FPS games, online or offline. The F.E.A.R. AI is way, way smarter than most players, who are only good because they know where the sniper rifle spawns, and have twitch reflexes of insta-headshotting.
In F.E.A.R. The AI is honestly intelligent. Stunningly intelligent, actually. The only complaint I have is that they know the map a bit too well to be realistic at times. But they never have super-duper perfect aim of unfairness, unlike the Halo and FarCry cheating motherfuckers, whose programmers clearly didn't feel that good AI was worth more than tuning the accuracy up to 100. (Okay, to be fair, in Halo the accuracy fluctuates by difficulty. But on the hardest, it's at 100%. For FarCry, it's stuck at 99.9-100%. Fucking cheaters.)
But yes. More on topic... Ridiculous AI...

C. I'm a group of da orkz, fighting some of dose eldar wimps. On easy. And I kid you not, for TWENTYFIVE straight minutes, I had a defense hold off thousands of them. THOUSANDS. It got to the point where I had to turn persistant bodies off, because my alamo was lagging so badly due to all the eldar corpses. And no matter what, no matter how many thousands upon tens of thousands I killed...they didn't wane a bit.
Many, many times, I'd end up staring down eldar forces that, bluntly, were cheating.
One enemy base. Yet the enemy force EXTREMELY outnumbered anything you can EVER get as the Eldar. At least ten freaking walking mechs, a few of those hovering tanks. Ten squads of warp spiders. Ten MORE squads of mixed rangers and guardians. At least four groups of howling banshees. And when I kill half of that, another FULL group that's AT LEAST as big as the original runs in!
I ended up winning, but only through sheer luck and stealth units stealing a relic. Also, I had to go through ten squiggoths (and countless nobs, flash gits, warbosses, killa kans and looted tanks) just to GET OUT OF MY BASE. Then I had to have it go AROUND the infinite eldar forces that attacked my base, and destroy their HQ.
Easy AI my hairy ASS!
Did I mention that this stunning offensive force from hell started no more than five minutes into the game? Cause that's what it was.
