question is what is the most ridiculous DLC you have ever had to pay for. It can be something that wasn't worth the money or something that should have been included in the game or whatever.

EDIT: Nevermind what was originally here. Just me being a moron and complaining about nothing. Sorry.

I've never even bought a DLC. And they aren't something you "have to" buy. They are cancer.

Look man it's just very simple. You bought the game second hand. So how can you possibly make demands from the people that designed the game if you didn't contribue with maintaining their work?

You get what you pay for.

it's an incentive for people to buy the game new, as the devs won't see a penny of what you paid for your second hand copy.

As for stupid DLC purchases, I got the last add on for borderlands (i think it's called the robolution) and then remembered that borderlands bored the snot out of me. I still haven't played that add on 800 MSP down the drain.

If the price of your copy plus the price of DLC is equal, it's still unfair, because you are likely to have a scratched disk or a similar form of evidence of past use that may negatively affect you.
Most of the time used discs are cleaned and have the scratches removed/fixed, and are tested to make sure that the game is playable.
And if they aren't they'll almost always refund you for having a broken disc.

When you buy secondhand the people who actually made the game don't get paid.

This is their attempt to reward players for supporting them, while still making money off of those who don't.

Developers like buying things like food and electricity.

I don't buy DLC. I'm hoping that if enough people just ignore it than it will go away and companies will have to start selling us complete games off the shelf again.

Awfully selfish of them, wanting to eat!

Still, I was annoyed when I bought (what I thought was) a new copy of ME2, only to find that the code had already been used.

I've never bought DLC, only a few expansion packs. Most of those packs came with the games anyway -.-

I never actually bought it, but one of my friends paid for the infamous horse armour in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
As much as people go on about that, I really don't see the big deal about it. Granted, I don't want to see this sort of thing pop up on Day One, because that just reeks of exploiting the DLC market, but several months on, if they hire some developers to craft some new costumes, why not sell it for a tiny sum of money.

Fable II selling black dye on Day One... that's just fucking greed pure and simple. The game even has a little space set aside for it in your collection of dye. They purposely removed the most popular color dye to sell to the punters.

If the price of your copy plus DLC is lower, then I don't see the problem, since even with the DLC, you paid less than the other person.

That's just how I feel about it. I don't know the prices or the business, so anyone feel free to correct me, as long as there's more support for your claim than "Shut up."
You paid less yes. More importantly: You paid less for the wrong person!

You did not buy the game from the developers. You got from some random person. If the disk is scrached then its becouse YOU chose to buy it second hand.

Why doing it? No money? I live in Brazil. I have to buy games in dollar witch is twice as valuable as our currency. So I have to work my ass for AAA titles. At least I pay the people who developed it, therefore making sure that more good games are going to be made.

What? Are you just pissed of at a company that makes your games for not supporting your choise of not supporting them?

You paid second hand at I'm going to guess a discount price, so either stop crying or dont bother. I dont have a 360 so I dont know how much that is, but I think its like 10 bucks American if I remember correctly. Thats hardly a price gauging. Besides, as was mentioned, if it is 10 dollars (or whatever amount it is) then thats all the profit they're going to see on there game, and thats between 1/5 and 1/6 of the original price.

The DLC for Dragon Age: Origins was nothing but a rip off. 70SEK each(let's say it's around 7 euro) and perhaps 10-15 minutes playtime on them.

Hey guys before I ask my question a bit of backstory.
I have a second hand copy of Mass Effect 2 which means I can't get on to the cerberus network. If i want to get on to it I have to pay 1200 MS points. To be harsh I think this is bullshit. I don't see why I shouldn't get DLC that's free to some people just because I didn't get the game first hand.

Anyway question is what is the most ridiculous DLC you have ever had to pay for. It can be something that wasn't worth the money or something that should have been included in the game or whatever.

Brownie points for anyone who can tell me a way to get a cerberus network code cheaper than 1200 MS point ^-^
You bought the game second hand for a lower price, while the developers got nothing from that sale. You're not entitled to get free stuff as well.

If it's any consolation, all the stuff you can get through Cerberus Network is either pointless or crap.

With the possible exception of Zaeed, who I never bothered downloading.

Its easy. Complain, stop downloading DLC, all good and valid. But more importantly: STOP buying second hand games!

Do that and the DLC filosofy dies.

Bioware didn't get any money from you buying it second-hand, so why should they give you free stuff for not buying from them?

And besides, the DLC isn't that big of a deal, you already have the full game.

You had to have known that what you were buying wasn't going to have the DLC. I mean, they've been doing this stuff for quite a while now, and to be perfectly honest, I approve of it. I think that if they want to reward people who have done them the kindness of buying new instead of used that's perfectly reasonable. Yeah, it sucks when you get a bad deal as a result, but that's not their fault, they've made this particular business practice more than clear.

Honestly, it's like you bought something, knowing it wasn't going to be as complete as a fuller version, and now you're complaining that it's not the fuller version even though you could easily have bought the fuller version instead.
