Biography: Thomas has lived a relatively simple life. Nice family, decent amount of money, friendly town, and overall a pretty good person. However, something that would seem quite minor and petty at the time, happened along the way. During Middle School, he met a kid by the name of Leon. Leon was your regular bully. Constantly picking on people, but him especially. Thomas was a gentle little bookworm at the time and an easy target. Most of the time, Thomas would just submit to beatings, lunch money being taken, the usual junk.
One day Leon went just a bit too far with Thomas, and they got into a fight. Leon went home with a concussion, a broken nose, and broken arm. Thomas went home pretty much unharmed and didn't even get a suspension. His school didn't fancy bullying or fighting, but being an A student and teachers voicing their own observations, helped keep Thomas out of trouble. Now, you see, apparently Leon didn't take kindly to this. Coming back to school a laughing stalk didn't help either. He developed a hatred for Thomas Avery...and apparently so did his trashy family. Leon messed with Thomas more than ever, but no one really seemed to be on Thomas' side anymore. Not the few teachers that would ignore his actions, not his snot-nosed friends who would cheer him on, and not even the students who looked forward to a fight. He was stopped by every teacher, ditched by his friends, and laughed at by every student. Leon hated it, and so did his family. Why they didn't just contact the police and charge me is baffles him. At games, talent shows, and other events, Leon's family would knock over their food, pull chairs out from under them, or simply make things horrible for Thomas' family. Leons' family called these "accidents."
Thomas ignored Leon and he really didn't care for the first few years. Sure, Leon could be a dick, but Thomas shook it off and had better comebacks. He didn't enjoy it but he wasn't gonna take Leon's crap lying down. But apparently neither was Leon. During his sophomore year, Leon and his two brothers wearying mask, attacked him after school. Luckily, Thomas's friends helped fend them off. Thomas got cut on his forehead and right cheek. They could never prove it was them though, no evidence and whatnot, but Thomas knew it had been them. He could see the usual anger in Leon's eyes under one of the mask. Things took an even crazier turn when a Molotov came flying through a kitchen window, nearly burning down his house. This is when Thomas' family truly attempted to get police involved, but no one really got on board. Sure, Leon's family wasn't made up of the most upstanding citizens, but they couldn't really due anything for the Avery's or to Leon's family. There was an investigation but nothing really turned up.
Personality: Thomas is relatively a nice guy. He tends not to get into physical confrontations unless absolutely necessary and doesn't enjoy others pointless suffering. Years of bullying will do that. He doesn't enjoy what he did to Leon, he was just fed up with Leon's crap and wanted to do something about it. He didn't want to break his arm or give him a concussion, it all just sorta happened.
Thomas has an interest in Engineering and machinery in general, but as of late, Literature has really caught his eye. He enjoys most fiction, sci-fi, horror, adventure, and detective novels being some of his favorites. Working in a library has helped fuel that interest. After awhile, Thomas began looking into non-fiction, actual information. It started with a project for Engineering, but he came to find other interesting pieces of information and fascinating pieces of history.
Though Thomas tends to be a calm soul, when Thomas is angry, he becomes truly infuriated. It takes a lot to truly make Thomas visibly angry, but when it happens he can't really tend to stop himself, he just sorta lets loose. He took one year of karate when he was twelve. He has, however, read about other fighting styles, but has never actually tried to use them. The most creative hes ever gotten when fighting, was kneeling on Leon's arm and bending it back. Thomas felt a sick satisfaction when he did that, but never wants to do it again.
Cause of Death: Thomas had been working, doing what he usually does at the library, returning books to their shelves, helping people find books, occasionally flirting with this one girl, the usual. It was late and Thomas had only about 25 minutes left before he could go home for the night. He'd been helping a few younger children find some interesting picture books when suddenly an older woman, hurriedly walked up to Thomas. She informed him that that "unkempt, troublesome boy" was pacing around the library with his younger brother. His oldest brother was supposedly overseas. Leon and his brothers were once nearly banned from the library after simply walking through the aisles, knocking down books. Thomas and a few others tried to stop them, and a fight nearly erupted. Luckily, a local officer escorted them off the premises before anything started. The officer had noticed how the brothers reacted to Thomas, but didn't really mention much of it. The older woman was wearing on of the library's name tags, Marry Peterson it read. He'd never seen her before but figured she must work here as well. Marry Peterson told her that the local officer, who'd occasionally stop by, suggested that Thomas wait in the new and unfinished section of the library, in case Leon and his family got a bit restless.
Thomas was given his bag and followed Miss Peterson, and other librarians relayed what Miss Peterson had told him. However, something was off. Every time they'd pass another librarian, they'd give Thomas a weird look. But Thomas realized they weren't looking at him, they were looking at Miss Peterson. They all shared an initial emotion of confusion, but they all quickly shook it off. They saw one of the brothers being escorted out for knocking over a pile of shelves, but he was smiling all the way through the door. Thomas followed Miss Peterson past a white tarp and into the new section. It was full of metal shelves, devoid of books, and entirely white. There was a door in the back and a few curtained windows. Miss Peterson took Thomas near a few section of shelves in the back.
"Do we really need to be this far back?"
"Sure, don't worry about it. It's all for your safety. Maybe while we're back here you can patch things up with my son.
"Yeah, I can see how-wait, your wha-"
Thomas felt a sharp pain in his back and something sticky cover his mouth. He broke of Miss Peterson's grip when another pair stronger hands grabbed him held him there. "Don't even try." It was Leon's oldest brother. He was supposed to be overseas in Iraq. Thomas attempted to resist, actually managed to nearly break free but an older gentleman and a little girl walked out from the darkness. "So you're the one who was messing with my boy?" Leon's father pulled out a knife and slashed across Thomas' chest. Leon's little sister took a pair a scissors, lunged, and cut through Thomas' both Achilles tendons. Thomas couldn't stand up straight, and was grabbed by Leon's brother. Leon showed up and didn't have much to say. He just got straight to the point and stabbed Thomas in the eye. Leon's brother let go and Thomas began falling back, until Leon's mother caught him and pushed him against a shelf. She stabbed him multiple times in the back. Thomas' muffled screams went nowhere and eventually, the mother just stopped and began to walk away with her family. H Thomas held onto the shelf to support himself when the family appeared on the other side and began to push. Thomas reached out, grabbing the mothers hair, but soon jumped away from the shelf and tried to drag himself away. The shelf landed on him with a heavy thud. He head a loud crack come from his head and then everything went dark.
How you said your goodbye: After the man left, Thomas sat there pondering for at least 45 minutes, not really thinking of anything. Eventually he got to his feet, reached into his bag, found his phone, and called his parents. No one picked up and he was transferred to the machine. He simply put that he was in trouble and added that they may be in danger too. He quickly hung up, trying not to freak out.He noticed a note on the floor that read, "We're even." He shook his head and began to through his bag, a few chips, his phone, a laptop, and a couple of books he needed to return. He spent about the next two hours finishing a book he'd needed to catch up on. He left the books on a shelf near by. He quickly made his way to the back exit and noticed a bus stop on his way out. While he walked, he noticed, a car out back. Leon's family? No, it was a Twenty-something he'd never bothered to speak to coming extremely late. Thomas figured he was coming through the rear to avoid getting caught. Thomas thought of the fallen shelves and the blood. Thomas stayed out of sight. The man was in for a shock. He saw the bus rolling up, and quickened his pace. The man walked through the door. Thomas got on the bus and sat down. He sat down and dumped his head into his hands, exhausted and noticed a clump of hair in his hand. He'd been hoping this was all some nightmare, but the hair confirmed what he already knew. He'd just been brutally murdered. Thomas let this all sink in and finally took a look at the buses next stop. It appeared to be only a block away from the apartment.
