And the fans are always nice. They don't act like snobs, claiming console players are jerks. They certainly aren't asses who like to spout how awesome they are and constantly put others down because they're so stupidly snobbish they'd rather hate people than just enjoy their games.

And how many times do I get a 10 year old who shouldn't have a M game yelling in my ear when I'm on LIVE? Seriously, there are more console tards who rant about how epic their toy is while PC "elitists" actually have reasons to like PCs more rather than the console "IT looks shinier DERRR"

I think he might have been being ironic, although it's masterfully hard to tell! The console gamers I've encountered over the years have been inexplicably arrogant and elitist, adamant in ther assertion that their console is better than the PCs no matter what with an almost naziist obsession! That being said, there's always an element that are Yahtzee's 'Hooting Dickholes' on any multiplayer platform, so paralysed by their own inability to express themselves that they clutch dick in hand and adopt a pseudo gangsta mentality against those with more than a passing knowledge of english or less than a passing knowlege (through 'n00bism') of a particular game.

The friendliest community I've ever encountered is the Battlefield 2 guys, who all seem to be about support and teamwork (that is the main tenet of the game I suppose). Why can't everyone be like them!?

Yes, it's really frustrating when all you want to do is enjoy yourself! The 12 year olds out there need to understand that swearing and arrogant twattishness aren't the ways to appear mature. (although thinking back to when I was 12, I'm not sure I would have listened or cared!)

Perhaps console manufacturers are hoping if they say "PC gaming is dying" often enough, it will come true.

So far, PC gaming is in very good health.

As for piracy, well, PC gaming piracy has been around since PC gaming was young, and it hasn't killed it yet. And as other people have mentioned we have magical things like Steam, Gamersgate, Direct2Drive andGood Old Games [http://www.gog.com/] that between them allow you to download and play current and past games.

Game requirements for hardware have also slowed recently, and if you also take into account the reduced cost of standard gaming hardware, upgrading is quite cheap these days.

Modding! A lot of games have free mods made by people who just love to tinker with the games they play. Several developers (as mentioned above) even release their SDKs, which makes it even easier.

And finally, the indie scene. There are vast amounts of indie games and free games released on the PC, some of which are quite high quality! This will never die out, because people have done this for the love of making games since the industry started.

I would say that PC gaming isn't going to die because the capabilities of a PC are always increasing while a video game system only increases when a new system comes out.

As for piracy, well, PC gaming piracy has been around since PC gaming was young, and it hasn't killed it yet.

Piracy has been alive and doing just fine on consoles since they switched to CD and DVD. It's just as easy to Pirate on consoles, In some cases easier. Do a search for a .ISO of any console game and you'll get tons of hits. Hell, to mod your 360 to play pirated games you don't even need to do anything other than flash the DVD drive.

You forget that Epic Games created Unreal Tournament and the Unreal engine long before they came out with Gears of War. And people use the Unreal engine for almost everything.

Lol, the Unreal engine was even used for both Gears of War and Gears of War 2 go figure. But yes there are plenty of mods for unreal tournament and unreal tournament 2004 (not sure about UT3), just to name a few of the bigger ones Red Orchestra, Killing Floor, and Air Buccaneers. There's a whole database website dedicated to UT mods.

PC gaming isn't dying hell take a look at sonys PS3 problems (PS2 is outselling it) ATM the only succesful console of this generation is the Wii.
ATI and Nvidia are still churning out better graphics cards at cheaper prices the situation is being reversed consoles are becomming more expensive while PC hardware is getting substantialy cheaper

Okay WTF is with this thing about PC elitist. When did elitism become bad? Elitism isn't bad it's how it is and always has worked until recently and now it has stopped because all of the babies and losers crying to their mommies. If something is better like the PC, and I can say this because the PC has and can do everything the the consoles can do and better, it should have the right to show itself and be established as superior.
