River is amy's daughter. Because the little girl in the space suit is amys daughter as shown in the day of the moon ( the picture of Amy and the girl) and we know that river had murdered "the best man she had ever known" which has been strongly hinted is the doctor. At the beginning of the impossible astronaut we saw the girl in the spacesuit murder the doctor, and since river killed the doctor, the girl must be river. Also I'm not sure if this means anything, but at the end if the impossible astronaut Amy told the doctor that she was pregnant, then when the next episode started it said 3 months later, and at the very end when the girl regenerated it said 6 months later and 6+3=9. 9 months since Amy was pregnant her daughter (river) regenerated. This also means that river is a timelord, so river is Amy and the doctors daughter. But timelords know other timelords, therefore river must have become human by storing her timelord powers in one of those watches. I may be completely wrong but it makes sense... At least I think...

Steven Moffat has said only one thing about River Song.

She is not who you think.
He also said that River is definitely NOT Amy in the future.
Maybe Moffat means that he knows we're going to be looking for complicated explanations when she's just, as she says, the Doctor's wife who lives backwards in time to him.
Although that'll mean that they're only married for a brief stint before River starts meeting the Doctor who hasn't married her yet and vice versa.

If Moffat hadn't said to discount Amy, though, it'd tie into what we saw in last night's episode that

the Time Lord Child was in the picture with Amy cuddling her. Perhaps Amy does end up with the Doctor and the kid's their daughter.

But I guess there must be a different explanation.

River flirts too much with the Doctor to be mother or daughter... also she said "Don't worry I'm quite the screamer, now there's a spoiler for you..." I'm saying she's his wife.
And also, last night's episode:

that was some long and tongue-y kissing between the Doctor and his immediate family members if that were the case. Ew.

my idea, judging by season 6 is that she's amy's daughter from the future? and is the little girl from the first two parter episode. there was a wee joke made by amy about the tardis affecting a baby, the tardis doesn't know if she's pregnant or not... maybe cos she's pregnant with something new? almost time lord-like?

As in Doctor who http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/River_Song

Although they make it appear she's his future wife I have a couple of other theorys.

1)River Song is actually Susan Foreman http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Susan_Foreman

2)River Song is actually Jenny. http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Jenny

Both are people who might know his name.
Both are people who would try to find him... I think...

If anyone wants to crush my theory or state their own go ahead.
Very interesting thought, but I'm going to say no. Either of those cases would be handled very differently, I believe.

Yes but to be fair I did have those ideas LONG before they gave her characterization.

It was said in the "Flesh and stone" episode that she was in prison for having killed someone.

"A great hero of the people." Her victim was called.

And later even a Dalek was begging for mercy from her when it realised who it was up against and what it's records said about her.

My guess is that River Song killed the Doctor in his future.

Why else would a Dalek of all things, fear her?

I think she's the Rani. It's been hinted she's coming back, she'd know the Doctor's name, she'd also know how to drive a TARDIS.

I hadn't thought of that. That actually seems quite probable, especially with a 50th Year Anniversary coming up it seems likely that they'd bring a character like that back. Hmmm....

I doubt very much that it would be Susan, the kind of affection she displays with the Doctor doesn't seem compatible with someone who would call him "Grandfather". With Jenny, kissing your own clone/daughter/thing just seems really creepy and unnatural. Out of the suggestions I've heard thus far, the Rani does sound like the most plausible. Not to say it is going to be her, it just seems plausible.

Also, regarding how they're going to resolve the season start, I can't be the only one thinking that maybe
The Doctor Flesh thing from this Saturday's episode is the one who gets killed rather than the "real" Doctor. He'd still have all the memories and everything, it could fit...

Oh and as for it possibly being The Master... yuck.

I know who she is! She's a Mary Sue!

Do I win?

Alternate theory: Keyser Soze.

I really hope that who she killed wasnt the Doctor as that would be just too obvious for something so massive, plus Moffat has so far demonstrated more suss then to do something like that.
