That seems like a fair enough appraisal. I'm certainly in no position to tell you you're objectively wrong. All I know for certain is that not everyone comes to be this way for the same reasons/motivations.Omgsarge said:Hmhm, you are right of course, in a sense. I fell that some of those explanations could also have emerged after facing rejection or just plainly no intimate interaction in the real world. Though, I don't know, it really rubs me the wrong way to think that some people venerate a "perfect" representation of their desires over real people when they are only human themselves. Humains always want what they can't have I guess.axlryder said:Yes, I see/saw where you're coming from. What I meant was that it's not necessarily just about not having to deal with companionship on its various levels. For one, fetishes can crop up for various reasons. For instance, if a person's primarly sexual outlet as a child was cartoons, or they had some very impacting experience that dealt with cartoons, then they may develop to prefer cartoons. It's like most other fetishes, where the fetish is integral to sexual arousal, but in this case the object of said fetish "replaces" real woman.
Another example might be pure aesthetic preference. If someone is simply more attracted to the potential physical attributes that drawn characters provide, and indulge excessively in that mindset, then they might eventually get turned off by anything that doesn't meet those standards.
A final example might be 2D characters possessing attributes that simply can't exist in a real world scenario. For instance, those that are into inflation or futa.
I imagine there are plenty of potential reasons someone might prefer 2D girls beyond simple avoidance.
I still think almost everything about "2D" women is somehow rooted in insecurities and fear to open up and I base that on absolutely no scientific evidence. Just appears like the most plausable explanation in most cases.
What bothers me most is actually how her mouth seems noticeably mis-aligned with her nose.AgentLampshade said:I visibly jumped when I saw that. Man, spoiler-tag that or something.erttheking said:http://www.geekologie.com/2012/10/02/anime-girl-irl-11.jpg

That just sounds creepy, especially the part about not breathing. It makes it sound like people would prefer dead bodies or zombies to a living woman. I could definitely see people describing certain women in real life as "pig disgusting" in their manners, attitude, or appearance but I don't know how they could possibly rate a 2D woman over a living one unless they were just fapping to it.MammothBlade said:Maybe part of the problem is holding the ideal girl on a pedestal as a completely sanitary, angelic creature who does not poop, does not breathe, does not have any of the human bodily functions that a male has. Are there any more reasons?
The writing beneath is an integral part of it. It's not a test. It's a short joke/comment on lusting after things that don't exist.S_SienZ said:And as I pointed out, a picture of a 3D girl and one of a 2D girl is not of much difference in value ultimately.canadamus_prime said:Yes technically, but the one on the left is a 2D photograph of a real flesh and blood 3D person, whereas the one on the right is a 2D image of a 2D animated fictional character. It's really kinda sad that I have to point that out.S_SienZ said:Kind of a fail test considering it's an image and hence both are 2D.canadamus_prime said:Ok, I'll admit there's a certain appeal to 2D girls, at least for oggling anyway and maybe doing other things... but to prefer them over the real thing??? What? That's just crazy.

This seems to apply.
Have the left one in front of me with her legs spread and I'll ace that motherfucking test.
Try handing out those 2 pictures to people in public without mentioning reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if the result ended up pretty even.
canadamus_prime said:It's really kinda sad that I have to point that out.
Just what I was thinking. I was under the impression that the whole 3DPD thing was just a meme /a/ adopted.Kyogissun said:OP confirmed for not knowing the difference between the moronic 'lingo' of users of 4chan's /a/ board (and those who have spread beyond it) and serious statements.
Not calling OP an idiot mind you, just saying it seems they took something as being literal that was in fact a joke.
Anyone who is attracted to a 2 dimensional drawing to the point of claiming it's a 'relationship' or 'emotional support pillar' needs to seek mental help, that's what we call borderline schizophrenia.

OT
it's a term used by guys that want a perfect girl that loves her BF unconditionally. The thing is that real people have a thing called "free will"
Yeah of course it's a opinion, and I wouldn't chastise you for liking the real girl. There is no "normal standard." My point isn't what's "perfect" anyway, it's that being attracted unrealistic figures is not grounds for saying the person has illogical expectations of real-life people.Slayer_2 said:snip
I believe liking normal women over anime ones is the "normal standard". I don't think there is a problem with liking the anime woman, unless it starts interfering with your ability to date or the way you treat real women.Lovely Mixture said:Yeah of course it's a opinion, and I wouldn't chastise you for liking the real girl. Just change it to "you like the girl on the left that's meant to appeal to a certain crowd? etc" If that helps you sleep at night.
what "guys" are saying this? no guy i know has ever said this (and meant it).MammothBlade said:Guys saying that they prefer 2D girls to their 3D counterparts.
This is apparently a known enough phenomenon in japan that it warrants its own term: "nijigen complex" aka people who fall in love with 2d ppl.Ascarus said:what "guys" are saying this? no guy i know has ever said this (and meant it).
Presumably they're the guys who'd want to marry their Japanese love pillows.Ascarus said:what "guys" are saying this? no guy i know has ever said this (and meant it).MammothBlade said:Guys saying that they prefer 2D girls to their 3D counterparts.
Oh there's nothing wrong with liking anime/animated women, I've had crushes on a few of them myself; no the problem comes in when you'd choose the anime/animated women over a real flesh and blood woman.Slayer_2 said:I believe liking normal women over anime ones is the "normal standard". You seem to be conflating attraction with facial recognition. This would imply that the adult facial recognition aspect is somehow impaired or underdeveloped in individuals who found themselves attracted to animated characters, and that has caused them to identify better with simplified facial characteristics. Considering I've found animated characters attractive and I draw portraits for a living (well, one half of a living, anyway), and very much like the way real life people look, I don't see that as being a very viable perspective. Many, many mangaka, who are talented portrait artists themselves, are in the same boat. You can infer this just from their lecherous anime artwork and more detailed, non-anime facial renderings. This isn't even taking into account a multitude of other factors here. I'd say this sounds about as silly as saying people attracted to anime girls are pedophiles because some of the character's features are naturally more "child-like". I'd be willing to agree that maturity probably plays a role here, but your basis for that hypothesis seems a bit underdeveloped. Perhaps just adding some detail/clarification would make it sound more plausible?CAPTCHA said:Imaturity, it's got to be. Infants don't see faces the same way adults do. The eyes and mouth are prominent for an infant, while many more factors are in play for adults.

Can you see how the first pic resembles the proportions of an animated character?
And yet people are still getting laid and these people are still life scrubs. Actually saying you like images of women over real ones means you're either lying or have something very wrong with you. Either way it's not goodBertylicious said:Who gives a shit about leading a fulfilling life? If we were all gadding about leading "fulfilling lives" in the 30s then we'd all be speaking German. No, instead we were all cold, hungry and poor but we all banded together to work for the glory of England.Giftfromme said:Laugh out Loud. Playing sports serves no biological function, while wanting to mate with a person of the opposite sex (or same sex if you're gay) does. You can play games etc and not play sports in real life, and yet lead a fulfilling life. You can also get a partner and get laid! But saying you like pictures of girls over girls in real life indicates something is indeed wrong with you, and that you are most likely a life scrub. Most of these people are just ones that can't get laid, give up, and then think of nonsense like this to save their ego. Not healthy.Bertylicious said:It's not really any different to playing computer games rather than having a real hobby like playing football or doing something valuable with your time like working to get qualifications, helping others or otherwise bettering yourself.
Most y'all are hypocrites.
Though it has to be said that the Fuhrer would never have suffered any of this 2D nonsense.
I am glad that you share my revulsion of pornography though. It is that kind of thng that undermines the pursuit self-actualisation and the glory of 'The People' as a whole.
You do seem a little pre-occupied by sex though. You should understand that women only serve a purpose, they're not a purpose in and of themselves. Think how much more you would be able to achieve if you weren't living in constant fear of sexual isolation.
