Here's the rule as I know it:

Your age, divided by two, plus seven.

So: 25/2 = 12.5 + 7 = 19.5, so we will round down to 19.

So the math says no, but if you love her man, don't worry about age. I personally think it comes down to maturity and communication. (in 2 years she will be 20 and you will be 27 so 27/2 = 13.5 + 7 = 20.5, so 20, it will be fine mathematically:p)
That rule has always been stupid. What if you're 50? Then you can theoretically date anyone aged as low as 32. Whic is an 18-year age gap.

Personally I don't think age gaps matter, as long as the people love each other. Go for it, OP dude. Good luck to the pair of you :D.

Why do you care about other people's opinion on this matter? They are not dating her, you are. If you like/love her, like being with her/dating her, then who gives a flying f*ck about her age. You only live once, so be happy.

It isn't totally stupid, it makes sense that someone who is 50 can go out with someone who is 32. As you age the gap should get bigger because people get enough maturity and such as they age. Meanwhile, in his case and as many other people have pointed out, the maturity of a just 18 year old could be put up for debate, meaning the age gap should be smaller (as in a CLOSER maturity)

I dont even think you have to go that far. As long as there is attraction go for it ^^ but i'm saying that because i've never loved anyone yet.

You shouldn't care about anyone's rules if you both honestly and freely love each other.

I was in exactly that situation myself once. Didn't work out because she was immature and I was getting to where I was just to set in my ways to put up with drama and horse crap. I know we're all different people, but the woman she is now won't be the woman she'll become in 5 years. Odds are good this won't last.

I would never get with a 25 year old guy, but if you guys are happy together and there are no problems - go for it.

Why do you care what we think? I wouldn't personally do it. But then...I feel that women my age are probably too young for me too. If you're happy with it, and not going to be incarcerated for it. Then enjoy what you have, and stop being neurotic about it.

Took the words right out of my mouth. You ninja, you.

BTW, wait until she's over 18 to do anything or you'll get hit with jail time. If she is, disregard the previous statement.

Hang on a minute, Trivun. My next door neighbour's (she's an old lady) son is about 45 and he's engaged to a 23 year old.

His new name is DAWG!

Actually, I think you should not

18 is a time for going to college, learning skills, independace and growing up, not relationships with older men

I am sure than my opinion will be very unpopular, but I think than when you are young your should learn as much as you can, everything gets harder as you get older. There is plently of time to have a relationship later.

I do not think the age difference is a problem, just the face that she is so young, moreover, she is at an age where she should be finding her own two feet as well

Hardly, it's not even a 10 year difference. It's when you're about 20 years apart that you start pushing it.

WELL IF YOU TAKE THE OPINIONS OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY (OR HALF OF THEM) SERIOUSLY, IT'S STILL NO REASON TO BREAK IT OFF WITH THE LASS. I HATED MY BROTHER'S GIRLFRIEND FOR AGES, BUT OVER TIME I'VE BECOME A LOT MORE ACCEPTING OF HER (WE'RE HARDLY BUM CHUMS BUT WE CAN AT LEAST SIT IN THE SAME ROOM WITHOUT HER CLOUTING ME OVER THE HEAD FOR SOME CHEEKY LITTLE QUIP) HOWEVER IF YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS AS TURBULENT AS MINE USUALLY ARE, YOU'LL HAVE MORE TO WORRY ABOUT THAN AN AGE DIFFERENCE.

TRY YOUR BEST TO MAKE IT WORK WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND BUT DON'T ALIENATE YOUR FRIENDS, IF THEY BRING UP ANY CONTENTION, I SAY WAIT AND SEE IF THEY END UP GROWING ACCOSTOMED TO HER BUT IF THEY SIMPLY CAN'T COPE WITH YOU GOING OUT WITH THIS GIRL THEN THEY FORCE YOU INTO A DIFFICULT CHOICE. (I WOULD FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FRIENDS AND ROMANCE.)

OF COURSE THIS VIEW MAY BE A BIT TOO DRAMATIC, EITHER WAY MY ADVICE IS TO LET ANY DOUBTERS TO GET TO KNOW THE GIRL OVER TIME, SHE COULD GROW ON THEM.

BEST 0F LUCK.
WOW COOL IM SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE
