Here's the rule as I know it:

Your age, divided by two, plus seven.

So: 25/2 = 12.5 + 7 = 19.5, so we will round down to 19.

So the math says no, but if you love her man, don't worry about age. I personally think it comes down to maturity and communication. (in 2 years she will be 20 and you will be 27 so 27/2 = 13.5 + 7 = 20.5, so 20, it will be fine mathematically)

That rule has always been stupid. What if you're 50? Then you can theoretically date anyone aged as low as 32. Whic is an 18-year age gap.

Personally I don't think age gaps matter, as long as the people love each other. Go for it, OP dude. Good luck to the pair of you .

It isn't totally stupid, it makes sense that someone who is 50 can go out with someone who is 32. As you age the gap should get bigger because people get enough maturity and such as they age. Meanwhile, in his case and as many other people have pointed out, the maturity of a just 18 year old could be put up for debate, meaning the age gap should be smaller (as in a CLOSER maturity)

I dont even think you have to go that far. As long as there is attraction go for it ^^ but i'm saying that because i've never loved anyone yet.

I was in exactly that situation myself once. Didn't work out because she was immature and I was getting to where I was just to set in my ways to put up with drama and horse crap. I know we're all different people, but the woman she is now won't be the woman she'll become in 5 years. Odds are good this won't last.

well one of friends is "going out" with someone a few years younger then himself and i or anyone (save for a few of my friends) do not have any problems with it.

18 is a time for going to college, learning skills, independace and growing up, not relationships with older men

I am sure than my opinion will be very unpopular, but I think than when you are young your should learn as much as you can, everything gets harder as you get older. There is plently of time to have a relationship later.

I do not think the age difference is a problem, just the face that she is so young, moreover, she is at an age where she should be finding her own two feet as well

TRY YOUR BEST TO MAKE IT WORK WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND BUT DON'T ALIENATE YOUR FRIENDS, IF THEY BRING UP ANY CONTENTION, I SAY WAIT AND SEE IF THEY END UP GROWING ACCOSTOMED TO HER BUT IF THEY SIMPLY CAN'T COPE WITH YOU GOING OUT WITH THIS GIRL THEN THEY FORCE YOU INTO A DIFFICULT CHOICE. (I WOULD FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FRIENDS AND ROMANCE.)
