I was watching a program on how Legos are made. The factory used to have huge staff of people, but to cut costs, everyone was replaced with a robotic system that does everything that the human workers used to do. The final quote from that part of the show was, "Who needs people, when you have robots?" My first response was, "ARE YOU INSANE? Have you never seen the Terminator movies or The Matrix? That's exaclty what the machines say before they start the systematic extermination of the human race." Then I thought, "Well, Lego corporation, YOU need people. YOU need people to buy your pointless plastic bricks. YOU need people to have jobs so that they can afford your pointless toys. Because, the robots, as I understand, have absolutely no interest in them. Also, they aren't paid well enough to purchase your products or at all. I seriously doubt that the robots are planning on building their second generation counterparts out of little plastic bricks. Of course, if they do, defeating their armies won't be nearly as hard as the movies depict it to be. And, I don't think that you, yourselves will be able to do too terribly much with hundreds of thousands of the little things either. Do you plan on building houses or more factories with them? That's just not economical. So, yeah, maybe it's not such a great idea for a producer of a non-essential item to elimenate a good portion of the consumer/work force." So, I guess it's only a matter of time before some moron unleashes horrible, metallic death on the entire populace, most likely in an attempt to save a few bucks or turn a greater profrit. Thanks corperate world, for putting me out of a job and then serving me cold, calculating, robotic genocide.
