I keep hearing from my parents and a lot of poeple that rock music is dead and that no one plays it anymore. In my opinion, that's total crap. Rock is still alieve just as it ever was. It's not exactly done well on the radio, but anywhere else, it still works.

So I want to know, what are some artists out right now that are proving my theory that rock is still alive. My only requirement is that they have to have been created in the 2000s or late 90s(1995-1999)

Some artists I can name off the top of my head are Queens of the Stone Age, Priestess, and Slipknot(thier first official album was 1999, so they count). What can you guys think of?

After thinking for about 30 seconds, I've decided to extend the requirements from "1995 to now" to "has released any material(albums, singles, that kind of stuff)in the 2000s" This should get bands that are older than the requirements but still ass-kicking on the list.

Rock is no longer classic rock. Classic rock is dead, what we have now is infused rock with metal, or pop.

Your list is good, but I would include foo fighters, and a few canadian bands such as matthew good and sam roberts.

Yngwie Malmsteen is a god of rock, Tenacious D are gods too but lesser gods.

Rock will never die. There are many good rock and metal bands, like August burns red and protest the hero.

The 9000 people at the sold-out Killers concert I went to a couple weeks ago suggest that rock isn't gone yet. Changed from its original form, yes, but so are jazz, blues, classical, and hip-hop. The old stuff is still available too. Did you see everyone shitting their pants when it was announced that Blink-182 was getting back together?

Although I was kind of perplexed by Coldplay getting the Best Rock Album Grammy. The album was okay, but I wouldn't call it rock.

All great bands I was going to mention if I thought of them when I posted. I'm a little Iffy on Senses Fail from what I've heard, but I will check them out some more and see what I think.

Alright I've decided to extend the requirements from "1995 to now" to "has released any music in the 2000s". This should get a lot more bands that people want to be included, like Tool and Oasis.

Rock died when Hondo McClean split. Check out the Chasing angels video on you tube kids... What a waste. Then people like simple plan keep on going and going. There is no justice.

There are some awesome bands out of Canada. Alexisonfire, Silverstein, Protest the hero, to name but a few.

I was chatting to one Of PTH and he was on about how there is funding for creative media available through the Canadian government for music vids etc and that really helps out with all of the talent there. That and I imagine theres nothing good on TV so kids join bands/write films/act etc instead.

The band Priestess(the same one listed in the initial post) is from Canada and really good. I have thier debut album "Hello Master" off of itunes and I listen to it at least once everyday. I would initially call it Stoner Metal, but listening to it more closly makes me think that and Garage rock. Either way, it's a great album to check out.
