It looks like my computer can run it, but like so many others on here I'm stunned by the size of the download. 35GB just seem excessive for a game like this.

now you're being silly
You think that is silly?
You should have seen the comments section of the original announcement on the R* website.
People thought you need a GTX680 with 16GB RAM to max it out just because the developer said its "supported".
that's not silly, that's stupid =P
What's stupid is that the Xbox is restricting developers to a seriously outdated file storage format, as if the general suckiness of the system wasn't enough. Blu-Ray? is where it's at.

Looking forward to see what a 35 gigabyte game looks like.

Edit: Actually, I think I played one. Didn't God of War 3? basically use up an entire Blu-Ray? disc?
as far as I know, the PC version of Force Unleashed was also 30GB, although the standard PC version of it was the Sith Edition or something like that, so it may have been extended up the ass

That can't be. It has to be like nonstop cinematics (correction: videos of any sort littering the disc) or something, because the game looked like a generic one DVD usin' game, and not even the best of them.
The reason the PC version was 30GB was that they bizarrely had duplicate copies of every pre-rendered cutscene in 720p for each of the half dozen or more languages the game supported, instead of just having multiple audio tracks. It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen and did something like triple the amount of disk space the game used (don't remember the exact numbers after this long, but it was somewhere around there).

I heard a similar story when GTAIV came out...what I ended up with was a game that ran at about 1/4 speed on minimum settings despite being on a pc above minimum specs. I'm glad that won't be an issue for me this time, but others be warned.

I'm more worried about how this game will be optimized. Because the PC ports of Rockstar's recent games, GTA IV and LA Noire, are pretty crappy.
Well, they have been building the game from the ground up for the PC, rather than porting it to consoles, so I would not worry too much...

OT: 'Dose recommended requirements. o.0 That, just, I don't even... Who has a PC that powerful? My PC is fairly top of the line and can run nearly anything I throw at it (bar Metro 2033) with everything on high. But mine does not even touch the req specs! D: The game better look better than anything on the market for those specs...

This reminds me of the time Dead Space 2 came out and everyone was freaking out about the 18GB requirement. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING TO THESE GAMES? Just because we have 2TB drives doesn't mean you're free to not optimize your game size!

Why are people freaking out about the size, I'd bet most pc's have at least 500gb, and hdds will be cheap again next november when production picks up. I prefer higher size for more lovely textures and better prerendered scenes.

Does it have multiplayer at all? If not i'm expecting over 30hours of gameplay considering witcher 2 was 18gb on release and i got 30hours out of that without even really trying to do the side quests.

I'm definatly going to have to upgrade my OS hard drive though, i have 119GB of 500GB left on my os drive, yer i have 4TB on other drives but there backup drives not for installing things on...

Probably because it's difficult to believe that a dev would be so retarded as to list maximum specs.

Others release them as 'minimum' and 'recommended' for a reason.

OT: I really want to know what it needs 35GB for. The Witcher 2 is 18GB. (Well, I suspect the reason is because it's terribly optimised, but we'll see - I know they've got a lot of animations going on, but fuck.)

What a clever anti pirate measure.

Torrenting 35GB would be painful.

In all honesty this has me very curious. What are all those GBs being used for?
