I just don't know how a fan of Star Wars can watch that trailer and not be blown away. It looks fantastic.

*seconds in* Aw man! That really wasn't Ellen Page! *seconds later* HOLY SHIT! IT'S FOREST WHITAKER!! FUCKING SOLD!!!

Other than that, I gonna need more narration to find out when this specifically takes place instead of where this generally takes place...

DID YOU SEE MON MOTHMA AND THOSE IMPERIAL-I CLASS STAR DESTROYERS AND THAT GRAND ADMIRAL AND THOSE ROYAL GUARDS AND-

Okay, I'll admit the exclusion of Kyle Katarn makes me sad, but I had already chalked him up as dead and buried when Disney declared the old EU non-canon (I just consider it a separate continuity now). Also, for a movie titled Rogue One there seems to be a distressing lack of Rogue Squadron and starfighter combat. Still, I've wanted to see a Star Wars film that ditches lightsabers and the Skywalker family for some time now, and it looks like I'm finally going to get it.

I think that Disney are going to milk star wars for all its worth till everyone hates it. Oh fuck.
That's pretty much a given, what with Disney releasing at least one new Star Wars film per year ad infinitum. For now I'm just going to enjoy the ride while it's still going strong.

Fingers crossed that we get a film from the imperial's perspective. If Disney is really intent on making tons of SW films, then chances are I'll get my wish eventually...

In meantime this could do quite nicely. TFA just didn't click with me for the most part and I find myself being in the minority who disliked it, this however looks much more up my alley for some reason, maybe it's seeing the AT-ATs?

This looks like it's going to be pretty good. This is the kind of thing Star Wars needs more of and I've been saying this since EA revealed that Force Unleashed would have had a sequel: Anthologies. Give me new angles on familiar plots and settings with interesting new characters and I'll be a happy camper. As much as I liked the Luke and the gang in the original trilogy, I got tired of the original cast before Phantom Menace released so any new Star Wars taking place during years when they were...well, alive is a good thing in my books.

One more thing...this trailer seems to have taken place after the Bothans died. Seriously, I'd like to see more familiar aliens in future Star Wars flicks (and not just to be contradictory either...wait, have Bothans ever been in a Star Wars movie?)

So that's it I guess.... no hope for Kyle Katarn.... that's kinda depressing
Considering the EU and videogames etc already had about 3-4 stories of the stealing of the deaths star plans... kinda assumed they'd toss them all and go for a new route.

looks good I must admit, and I was a bit iffy because, again, we already have about 3-4 stories stealing of the deaths star plans.

I honestly didn't know if I liked it or not when I first watched it, but it's quickly growing on me.

Though many fans hope they bring stuff back in. Rumors say Thrawn will appear in Rebels. Of course, it would be a different Thrawn, but still.
As someone who almost cringed themselves into a coma watching GoT, wouldn't watching someone do a ham fisted job of "adapting" favored material actually be worse than simply watching them disregard it entirely?
A bunch of the EU stuff is still canon, at least in the broad strokes. The Sith Wars from the Old Republic games are canon, for example (Though the specific events are not), as are a bunch of the old Sith that are only mentioned in books. The Clone Wars series also adapted and included a lot of the EU books, dragging them into canon.

That being said, I really doubt Thrawn is going to show up, and I really hope he doesn't, seeing as how his niche basically doesn't exist in the Disney Canon.

Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Holy shit that looks good.

Who knew the problem with star wars movies was jedi and sith all along
Well... Quite a few people, actually. Just nobody who had any clout in making the films. For years I've heard a lot of fans talking about how cool it would be to have a story in this setting that just focused on ordinary Rebels, Imperials, etc, without all those flashy Force users.

However I am hoping for Kyle Katarn to be in this as he as amazing.
Kyle Katarn might actually be in it.

Speculation is that might be him at 26 seconds in, the scruffy guy with the jacket.

Anyway, looks pretty good...except for Forest Whitaker who gives me Battlefield Earth flashbacks.

Angry Joe actually mentioned something quite hopeful for the Kyle Katarn theory. The Rebel agent who recruited Kyle Katarn was named Jan Ors, which is not very far from Jyn Orso.

But the scruffy guy with the jacket is almost definitely not named Kyle Katarn. I don't know exactly how to spell his name, but it sounds something like "Cassian Willicks".

Forest Whitaker is the only thing about the trailer that makes me really nervous. I don't hate him, but I don't like him either.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have any guess as to who this is?

I thought he was Tarkin for a moment, but I checked the rank and he's an Admiral, not a Moff. IMDB has nothing. Any thoughts? He may be someone mentioned in the Tarkin novel, but I'm hoping I don't have to skim the whole novel to find out.

I think he's probably Tarkin with a more ornate outfit and and any discrepancies involving the rank insignia are either a costuming error or the production staff not giving a damn about those kinds of details. Wouldn't be the first time, considering in Return of the Jedi all the Imperials held the rank of Commander apparently if you go by the costuming.

Well, I won't lie, I am looking forward to it.
Yet inside me, is a force of darkness and-

Internal voice: Where the fuck is Kyle Katarn!?
Hey, he can still be in there.
Internal voice: Don't humour me, asshole!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this, but my inner fanboy is yelling.
Still, the hope lives, and it won't die until I watch the movie... but even then, I'll probably enjoy it.

[sub][sub][sub]Internal voice: I really hope he's there. ;_;[/sub][/sub][/sub]

EDIT: Apart from that, there are a lot of speculations for the Admineral character. Some are even callaing him a possible Thrawn... lets be honest, they wouldn't even dare. If people like me are rabid about Kyle, the people who love Thrawn would just throw faecal matter EVERYWHERE. Which is somewhat understandable.

Anyway, I still look forward to it.

Yeah, there were twelve(thirteen) grand admirals, why does everyone want this to be Thrawn? I'd totally be okay with this asshole being Zaarin or one of the others.

Wait, I don't get why people want Kyle Katarn.
I mean, I never liked the guy, but I also don't see him that interesting though. Anyone enlighten me?
