Yeah, there were twelve(thirteen) grand admirals, why does everyone want this to be Thrawn? I'd totally be okay with this asshole being Zaarin or one of the others.
Zaarin...now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...a long time...or at least the last time I booted up Tie Fighter...

I would give my left kidney for a spinoff movie chronicling the Zaarin Insurrection, though that's pretty much an impossibility at this point.

However I am hoping for Kyle Katarn to be in this as he as amazing.
Kyle Katarn might actually be in it.

Speculation is that might be him at 26 seconds in, the scruffy guy with the jacket.
Angry Joe actually mentioned something quite hopeful for the Kyle Katarn theory. The Rebel agent who recruited Kyle Katarn was named Jan Ors, which is not very far from Jyn Orso.

But the scruffy guy with the jacket is almost definitely not named Kyle Katarn. I don't know exactly how to spell his name, but it sounds something like "Cassian Willicks".
When she said her name I had to pause as I was convinced that she said she was Jan Ors, I thought we were actually getting a Kyle Katarn movie. I was really disappointed when I went back and it wasn't.

Anyway, looks pretty good...except for Forest Whitaker who gives me Battlefield Earth flashbacks.
Forest Whitaker is the only thing about the trailer that makes me really nervous. I don't hate him, but I don't like him either.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have any guess as to who this is?

I thought he was Tarkin for a moment, but I checked the rank and he's an Admiral, not a Moff. IMDB has nothing. Any thoughts? He may be someone mentioned in the Tarkin novel, but I'm hoping I don't have to skim the whole novel to find out.
Dunno what character he's playing, but that is Ben Mendelsohn if that's of any help.

This isn't a Rogue Squadron movie??
But why is it called Rogue One?
Well at this point in the timeline, Rogue Squadron doesn't exist yet. Maybe this is the Rogue Squadron origin story? This is Star Wars, I'm sure we'll see some space battles.

Does the main character strike anyone else as an insufferable brat?

Looks more original and interesting than The Force Awakens, but I'm still worried Disney will stay with whats safe.

Glad to have a new composer. Hopefully, he does all his own music. I don't want the title sequence or end credits.
Glad to (hopefully) have a self-contained movie. I mean, one that ends and won't have a sequel.
Impressed the female leader from Return of the Jedi looks so much like that character. I wonder who the actress is.
Fun-fact: Genevieve O'Reilly originally played Mon Mothma in Revenge of the Sith. The scenes were eventually cut, but you can still watch them as bonus material on the DVD/Bluray releases or just Youtube. Its great to see her back in the role she deserved credit for, and I say she looks even better now after some fine aging.

I have always wanted to see more of Star Wars beyond laser swords and space magic. Lets hope the main character doesn't turn out to be a Mary Sue like Rey is shaping up to be.

Wow, I never knew the European Union had such a big impact in the Star Wars universe.
Let's be honest here. Is there much of a dissimilarity between the Empire and the European Union?

I kid I kid. Who does the Empire really remind us of in real life? In past history I mean. Current history? If Trump gets his way...

Hmm, everybody in the comments section is bitching about women who aren't fuckbots in sci-fi movies or people complaining about the people complaining that there are women who aren't fuckbots in sci-fi movies. And here I am, just wanting to complain about them not bringing back Kyle Katarn.
It's actually pretty astounding that people are complaining about the lack of men when the main character seems to be the only prominent female.

Oh wait no, the lack of white men. But wait, the grey-haired man with the cloak is a white man! Yeah but he's evil!

These are likely the same people who ***** about feminists over-analysing the roles of women in media and here they are trying desperately to pull some sort of subliminal "white men are evil" message from a teaser trailer.

I hated TFA, but this looks really, really good.

FRESH. That's the best way I can describe it. something which gives us what we want but not all consumed by the regurgitated heroes, family ties & plot points which saturared the God-awful TFA.

Hope it turns out as good as it looks.

So... this will be a prequel?

Finally, die hard Star Wars fans can stop completing about the prequels sucking.

...Remember Luke?
Yes. He wasn't at all like that.
Luke was just whiny as fuck in Episode IV. This protag looks like a classic punk. I think it could definitely work. Disney's shown they know how to make compelling Star Wars characters so far, so I have faith they'll make her a good character.
