I thought you might be <:/ ah well, let the bashings begin!

Authoros stared round at the shambling horde, quickly noticing that he and his comrades were completely surrounded by the revolting creatures. Suddenly he heard a loud wail and a festering arm burst from the rotten earth, grabbing his leg. Authoros looked down at the spectacle, just in time to see the moulding head and body that the arm had belonged to erupt from the soil. He had to act fast so he held his sword high, and in a quick but lethal movement decapitated the loathsome monster, leaving its lifeless corpse to roll in the dirt while the head flew into the air.

As soon as he had finished, another foe came from behind in an effort to sate its hunger. As he felt the creature's claws on the back of his armour he turned his body and sword round, in doing so hitting the creature in the face with his elbow forcing it to dive backwards into a group of the advancing beasts, which knocked them down whilst leaving another zombie without a head on its shoulders.

Hey, it's his random encounter. I say we go with it. If you want a reason they've been summoned, I'm sure cc can give you one. One quick question - do we get bonus points if we manage to slice their limbs off Monty Python style? :p
Drawing his sword, Kris turned to the nearest Zombie and swung at its head. The blade sliced cleanly through, and the creature collapsed, its upper skull flying off in another direction.

'Zombies' Kris muttered beneath his breath. 'I hate Zombies.'

Yeah! :D

Thekt slammed his axe into the cranium of a zombie, and it careered backwards. He produced his musket and sent a speeding shot right into the awaiting zombie head. The zombies were slowly encircling them. It seemed that they were an endless horde, which indeed they were. Thekt knew there was only one way out of this.

"Fight your way westward! We will meet at Hope's Clearing! 'Tis the only safe place in these cursed woods! You'll know when you come to it, it is bathed in sunlight, and a great healing fountain lies in its center. It is circular and small, only about 10 metres wide, with dark woods all around it. Hurry, we will meet there again!" The others dissapeared from his view slowly as they were obscured by the sea of zombies. He hacked off a zombies arm as it tried to grab his leg.
"Go, now!"

"No way to avoid this fight" said Rhino, as she kicked a Zombie's skull through it's spine with her strong rear legs, "Have to chop our way through to the clearing". "Rrowrr" agreed the other head as it gored another of the Undead with it's sharpened horns.

Krolk begged to differ. He pulled the human meat, he had acquired earlier, from his bag and started throwing it at the more persistant zombies. While they were messily devouring the meat he made his escape and prepared to try the same trick with the next wave. If any got too close he would trust to Rhino's attacks and his knife tied to a broom handle to slow them down. It wouldn't kill them but it might buy him the time he needed.

Name: Morbidus

Appearance: Quite tall, wears a hooded cloak at all times that holds mysterious energy inside the hood, no bare skin is visible under his black clothing. has plated armor covering most of his body and he carries a large halberd with a vicious edge and two longswords around his belt.

Skills: A master of weapons both melee and ranged, has some magic that mostly involves the use of short range portals and teleport spells, he is fast and agile in combat.

History: Not much is known about him, he does not talk much about himself but some say he died and returned with strange powers and others say he is a void walker, a traveler from another realm that has come for a dark purpose. he doesn't stay in one place for long and tries to avoid crowds of people.

In hope's clearing a dark figure lies face down in the grass, hand reaching out to the fountain but it is just out of his grasp. The ground around him seems darker than the rest and shadows swirl inside his hood, his halberd is a few meters away from him, blade lodged in a tree trunk. It is clear that he needs revival.
(hows that? ^^)

Can't see a problem at all - it's a pretty good way to introduce yourself, DJ. My only concern is that we already have an 'back-from-the-dead' character with Authoros, but then I don't really know who your character is.

And kudos on 100 posts, whiskeyjack.
The group separated, each one making their own way to the clearing Thekt had mentioned. As the Zombies split up and went after their individual targets, they spread themselves more thinly, and Kris was able to duck and weave between them. Realising that he didn't know where the clearing was exactly, he beheaded another undead creature and leapt onto the nearest tree, scaling it to the top.

Looking out, he saw a faint light coming from one direction. Realising this was the sunlight Thekt had spoken of, he climbed back down and jumped off onto another Zombie, crushing its head with his boot as he did so. Before any of the others could react, he was off, sprinting for the clearing.

A few minutes later, he brushed his way through the overgrown plant-life and suddenly stood next to the fountain. he seemed to be the first one there. Holstering his sword, he scooped up some water from the fountain and splashed it over his face, before taking another scoop and drinking from it. As he drank, he felt his weakness drain away. The fountain was well named.

As he looked around the area, he saw the body lying on the other side of the fountain. He felt a pang of regret and moved to walk away before suddenly seeing something on the body move. Could the man not actually be dead? He walked over and checked. Gravely injured, but curable.

Kris sighed. Twice in as many days. Not a good habit. Using the staff as a focal point, he placed his free hand over the body and began the healing incantation that had worked on Thekt. As the spell took effect and the man stirred, Kris realised that he had been nowhere near as drained as the last time he had done this. He put it down to the fountain. Sitting down next to the now concious man, he waited for the others to arrive.

Yeah i was going to say the place of evil guy had already been taken by myself.

Authoros was one of the first to wander into the tranquil glade and he stared in relative disbelief at the fountain and the clearing itself, it seemed odd how there was such a place in the middle of an evil forest such as this. He then saw kris who was tending to the wounds of an odd looking stranger, but he dismissed this as it was plainly uninteresting. He detested places such as this, holy grounds seemed oppressive to him and he seemed to overheat quickly and in an unnatural fashion.

He was told by Thekt that the fountain had healing properties, but he knew this would not work for him. Fountains such as this would heal normal creatures, but as he was a hybrid of the half undead variety it would have the exact opposite effect for him, and demons were also quite badly affected by healing shrines, but then he turned his attention to the stranger again who had begun to speak.

Hes not evil... his position could change depending how it will benefit him. Mainly seeking his own objectives. ^^

As he gets up, morbidus groans.
"what is going on?"
he asks, he takes a drink from the fountain and goes to get his halberd from the tree trunk.

Hubbin sweeps his massive club in great arcs, bashing in the heads of two zombies in quick succession. His third swipe sends a zombie flying through the air to smack into a tree with bonecrushing force.

Stubbin mutters a cantrip and at first there seems to be no effect, until one of the zombies punches the ettin in the stomach and shatters all the bones in it's arm. The Stoneskin enchantment blocks the biting teeth of another zombie while hubbin continues his smashing rampage.

You should define your powers right now so you don't end up overpowered. Characters aren't as interesting when they are a master of melee ranged and magical combat.

The rest of the party look around as Krolk and Rhino gallop into the clearing. When he ran out of meat the Gnoll tied the last steak to a rope and trailed it behind the cow. This helped keep Zombie attention off him but meant he picked up a 'tail' of hungry enemies.

The inhumanly strong but rotting arms of the Zombies ripped a chunk out of Rhino's haunch as she made it into the clearing and collapsed in the healing fountain. Krolk dived from the wounded cow's back and threw his broom spear, it stuck through the leg of the lead Zombie, pinning it to the ground. The now unarmed Gnoll glimpsed the rest of the party out of the corner of his eye. "Help!" he squealed, diving behind his unconscious mount.

Yanking his sword out of his scabbard, Kris ran towards the horde before pausing. An idea had just crossed his head. He dashed back to the fountain and dipped the sword into its water before running towards the undead creatures, slashing his blade into them.

Body parts went flying as he kept hacking away, waiting for the others to come and assist him. The damned creatures just kept coming! How many more of them were there? he continued his assault, his arms getting more and more tired. He hoped the onslaught would end soon, he couldn't keep doing this forever.

I'd just like to confirm that Thekt does in fact have a Scottish accent, rather than cockney. I know it's a weird place to say it, but I think it fits him better. Also, zombies can't get into Hope's Clearing, as the light kills them.
Thekt, being short, couldn't run very fast, and was panting heavily by the time he reached Hope's Clearing. But he was pleased when he arrived, oh so pleased. He remembered when it was first made, when the victors of that battle had followed the elves, to make a monument for the fallen. The elves built it out of the purest stone, and enchanted it so that sunlight would always find it, a haven in the dark woods surrounding it. He noticed that they had an addition to their party.

"Aye, who's this then?" He studied the dark figure, he didn't look like a good drinking buddy. Thekt was dissapointed. Still, judging by appearances was not a wise thing to do.

Suddenly, Thekt noticed the Gnoll cowering behind his steed. Thekt laughed.

"Nothing can harm you in this place, it's enchanted."

He noticed the Ettin stumbling into the clearing.
"Well, as we're all here, I suggest we move on. We're practically half an hour from the edge of the forest and I was wondering, where shall we go next? I have a number of different routes for you to consider, if you've got a moment." Thekt produced his map again. "We could take the Ice Mountains, inhabited by dangerous Ice Beasts and Yetis, We could venture into the Kalaken Tunnels, dark and dank places they are, and no-one has any idea what lurks in there. Another route is the Realm of Fire, a vast wasteland full of volcanoes and hostile fire spirits, or how about the Realm of Madness? There, you are not assualted physically but mentally, by all manner of tricks of the mind and shadows of the night. Of course, there is another way. We could travel to the last green land left on this earth, the House of the Elves, and seek their guidance. So, what do we think?"

Authoros seemed strangely amused by the lecturings of Thekt 'Ha! The places you mention, are encrusted with inferior scum! I know of a way that is unknown to all but our supreme race.. An ancient ruin, who once belonged to a race of some of the greatest users of magics in the history of all the realms! When they became extinct millenia ago, they left behind their greatest work, the portals. The portals allowed many to go incredible distances in less than a second. If the legends speak true, the ruins should be not far from here..'

"I am morbidus, traveler of the realm, bounty hunter at times aswell... Since i am here i might as well join up with you, its bound to be safer than going it alone, my powers are at your service."
Morbidus stands up to his full hight, his halberd held high and his swords around his belt. After refreshing himself at the fountain some more he says "Right, so what route are we taking?"

Krolk peeked around from behind Rhino's bulk and realized that Thekt was speaking the truth. While Kris was slashing through the Zombies on the edge of forest, any that bypassed the warrior simply slumped to the ground. The Gnoll dusted himself down and got to his feet with all the dignity he could gather. This wasn't much. The ugly, green Dwarf and two giant, armoured beings were talking about where to go next so he characteristically weighted in with his own opinion.

" I vote for the realm of Madness, better to face the illusion of being frozen, burned or chewed until dead than the reality", he said in a brilliant piece of logic almost worthy of the scholar Anselm (although he did say so 'imself).

" You forget a couple of options", replied the newly healed Rhino, "Elfland or the ancient portal system"

Krolk hit the cow with his broom, "I forgot the option suggested by a sneaky demonic type, did I? Try to think before you speak. And anyway, I don't get along with Elves. They tend to fire at me on sight for being ugly, the arrogant bastards"

+ahem+ It's that air of superiority that worries me, not so much the overpowered business. It's probably part of the character, but I'm just bringing the issue up, as maybe you might wanna tone it down a bit (in my opinion). if indeed it's an issue at all. Just seeing what y'all think.

"Portals, is it? Well, if it's a magic doorway you're talking about, I'd rather not. I don't trust those things. I knew an Orc once, a shaman. he dabbled in 'em. Ended up with half of him in his hut, the other half of him on the other side of the world! Well, if it's my vote you want, apart from the Elves, I'd say The Realm of Madness, or if you'd rather risk danger for a far, far shorter journey, the mountains."

Its in character, I dont go round calling everyone inferior in real life, he is a demon and his race are known for being evil, very proud and powerhungry seeing other races as unequal in strength and power calling themselves the Supreme race. I also have a problem, i dont mind you being the guiding the story a bit, but i dont really like it that you gave us options on where to go, i'd rather go through the forest and then wander through some strange land from there. None of those areas really appeal to me either and thats why i created my own.

'The realm of madness..' he complemplated this thoughtfully 'Bah! A bunch of foolish wizards playing with illusion magic. But i will leave it up to you, i have no particular preference.'

Ok, cool. Just pointing it out. Yeah, feel free to make other suggestions, but having something that enables us to skip entire chunks of journey seems, well, a bit boring. Unless they take us to some parallel universe, or take us on a weird trip-like journey, because that would be cool.

Hubbin grins happily as he crushes zombies that just keep milling around just outside the ring of light. "I like zombies, they's is squishy." He punctuates this by slamming his club on to the head of a zombie and squashing it with a satisfying crackle-splat.

Stubbin stuffs a sack with corpus weepings and corpsemeat, not to mention a few bones to grind into bonemeal. "I entirely agree brother. This forest is a veritable goldmine of spell ingredients."

They turn from the forest and take a seat next to the fountain where Stubbin pulls out his spellbook and begins rememorizing his spells, as well as memorizing two additional spells he didn't have the ingredients for before.

Now that Stubbin has acquired Ectoplasm, bonemeal and the like he is going to have two more spells.

Vampiric Touch- Drains life energy from one creature on touch
Hellish Rebuke- Target spontaneously catches fire for minor burn damage.
