I am more than willing to accept the idea that this is just me, but I seemed to be so often ruined by seeing the best example of something first, especially in gaming.
For a non-gaming example, the first Star Wars fan fiction lightsaber battle I ever saw was . . . Ryan vs. Dorkman.
"This is awesome!" I said to myself, and I ran off to go find other great battles . . only to find nothing but crap. I was ruined by RvD.
Now back to gaming, I did what I consider to be the best DLC for Fallout 3 first, Mothership Zeta, followed by a close second (probably a tie) of Lookout Point, then the Pitt (which I hated) and Anchorage last (which was only good when you left the sim and got the good stuff).
Now I feel I'm doing it again with New Vegas. I happened across Old World Blues first, and I'm liking it a lot. Then I hear how it's probably the best one of the three that are currently out, and now I'm dreading Dead Money, thinking I popped my cherry on the best DLC only to go to crappy ones next.
Does this stuff happen to you guys?
EDIT: Oh, and about Mothership Zeta being my favorite, I had zero bug issues and I came out from that SET. Tons of caps in the form of those cyrstals, and the alien disintgrator was one of my top three weapons.
I also enjoyed the ship to ship combat, as brief and non-interactive as it was.
