Rules of the road when people are watching you play games?

My 360 controller has scratches on it with a few red stains in them due to people standing in the way of my television or yelling things such as "OH MY GOD YOU ARE SO DEAD! YOU'RE DEAD! YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!!!" *FWAK*. The worst thing though is when people tell you what to or not to do. I hate it. My friend did that on RE5, Borderlands, and Modern Warfare2. Whenever I get the chance on FPS games now he'll be trying to do something to do and I'll yell "FRIENDLY FIRE!" and lob a grenade at him.

This doesn't bother me in the slightest, unless they're backseat gaming and telling me what to do and where to go.

This doesn't happen often though, as usually they're too busy being in awe of my stunning prowess.

I don't mind... Sort of. One of my friends loves to watch, one thinks it's incredibly dull, and one is a backseat gamer.
I loathe backseat gamers.

It kinda depends on the mood I'm in and the person who's watching. Sometimes I game when I need to blow off steam, which means that talking to me before I have blown off the steam will really enrage me.

Other times I might be in a really sociable mood, and so talking is what I'd prefer.

One constant is that I don't like people begging me to hurry up so they can play if it's a shared console, or other gamers knocking the tactics I'm using.

Don't try to backseat game I guess, then we'll get along fine.

I think honestly alot of single player games can be alot of fun in groups. There was one time, a bunch of us are hanging out, and we wanted to get a horror movie, right? Someone suguested instead of that, we just throw in Silent Hill 2. Over the next few hours, we rotated who played, but we all got creeped the hell out anyway, so it was a blast all things considered.

I think some games are made for this sort of thing. My ex-girlfriend used to love watching me play Shadow of the Colossus and God of War, she thought they were cool as hell, although as a non gamer, she was too intimidated to try them out much herself.

I usually don't mind people watching, because I generally like to chat about them. But if they're my parents, well...you know...
They kinda don't like exessive violence. There are certain games that I will not play if they're home (Prototype, Fallout 3) and have to stick with safe games (Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge are my current ones)

I generally hate back-seat gamers with games like half-life 2 or the like where performance is subjective, but with a game like L4D2 it doesn't really bother me, and when i know someone's watching i kick my game up a notch and give it a bit of flare to impress them.

Words I can deal with, and always tell you to just shut up, but if you touch me in any way that distracts me, then I have to get up and put your head in the nearest blender. Lets face it, that kills the immersion.

I have a friend that thinks it's hilarious to press random buttons on my keyboard, especially if I'm in a particularly hairy situation. He's lucky to still be alive.

Thou shalt not flame-eth me for the mild sexism-eth in the last commandment

I always have this urge to share my games with my friends.
Or rather, share my experiences of my games with my friends.

Some of them are actually interested in what I have to say, and often come over for some multilayer, but not before I spend a while showing them my latest feats of awesomeness.

While the majority of my friends hate it and rather wished I stopped doing that.
Naturally, I won't.

im really paranoid when someones watching me in my pc so i always have my computer in the other end of the room facing the door.if someone cant see i dont want to let anyone go on google in my pc in fear they spontaniusly find porn, i normally try to do it for them if they ask, or instantly open a game and say i cant do it

People telling me what to do: Can't stand it... like when they've played the game before or think they're just being "helpful"

Most things i don``t mind, it`s nice to discuss what just happend with other people ,but the next person to state the blatantly obvious like "you`re dead" when i`ve died gets a sharp object through the skull

Watching me play a single player game is fine.

Woe betide the person who tries to distract me from a multiplayer fight though.

Edit:

I hate being asked questions by someone watching, when I'm busy such as in combat or trying to learn the plot myself.

And when they ask questions that are being answered by the dialogue they're talking over.

"Hey who i-" "SHUT UP DAMNNIT, I'M PLAYING THIS GAME." "but-" "HE WAS JUST EXPLAINING! SHUT UP AND LISTEN."

I'd have to agree with this though. Talking during/through gameplay is fine, but don't talk during the damn cutscenes/FMVs/whatever else that are explaining/forwarding the story. It's like watching films with someone else. Girls in particular, or just girls that I've been to the cinema with, always ask what's going on during the film. Ahhhhrrg! Watch it and find out?!

I don't mind them watching me play per se, but I often get encouraged to "play more!" "I want to see the ending!", well I don't feel like it right now!
