Oh look, they somehow managed to make it worse than 2, quite an feat, even by Bioware's sinking standards.

You know what, as long as they dont screw up the main part of the game I dont mind. It would be the first "hybrid" and that is what Kinect is perfect for.

Just been on the official forums.

Bioware developer all but confirmed it, not that it really needed to be proved.

"Just as a quick comment... I'm not going to speak directly to the "Kinect" thing because that's a rumor... and we don't comment on those.

Regarding the sentiment that a lot of people are expressing though... Development teams are made up of a lot of different people doing a lot of different types of work, saying that the addition or removal of *any* feature directly results in the addition or loss of something in a different area of the game is taking a very simplistic view of a rather complicated set of dependencies.

You can't say something like... If we cut two guns, we get more dialogue options! It doesn't really work that way. It'd be nice if it did... it would probably make a lot of the production guys' jobs easier."

Interesting comment. Though I remember the Dragon Age 2 team said the exact opposite thing when defending their decision to cut so much content. Someone somewhere is trying to save face.

People, calm down. It only says "Better with Kinect". That means there will probably be voice functionality or small hand movements while you still use the controller. This is going to be one of the "hybrid" games. I doubt that requires a substantial amount of effort, so we should not be concerned.

I find myself lacking the necessary curse words to adequately express my feelings on this development.

All things considered though, a motion based shooter done right sounds like a whole lot of fun to me, though I suspect that it will be some years before we see a real gem come to fruition.
It was called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_Prime_3:_Corruption

I don't know why other shooters on wii always sucked when perfect examples were out there...
Then again there might be more, I stopped trying to play them.
I mentioned Metroid: Prime, it is a great game, but it could be done so much better, but that wasn't my point. I want to see a game that combines something like military training rifles and a wraparound screen for a full immersion styled game, it would be amazing, like paintball, except, you know, no welts at the end of the day, and I don't have to worry about my glasses fogging up because of my damned mask.
You are right, that used a lot of lock on as well. Hard to explain/use in a pure shooter. I can see wii/move working better then kinect for this, having a physical object to point. But I have never used a kinect so I am out of my league.

I really couldn't care as long as it doesn't interfere with the main parts of the game, if it does I will be deeply disappointed in bioware

Dammit Bioware! Why didn't you instead spend some time making planet scanning make me go down a planet and mine them manually like Minecraft? Huh?

Also, what the hell am I talking about?

This could be AWESOME! However, I really hope they make it work well. I would definitely buy an Xbox and Kinect if they get motion controls to work well. However, if they are as finicky as the Wii, I'll just get it for PC.

Kinect is a good peripheral, why are people bitching?
Just because it is a good peripheral doesn't mean it can be well integrated in to any game, particularly if it isn't required. Motion control seems to be something best considered at the beginning of developement rather than added later, I remember lots of people complaining about this with Wii games that handled the motion control poorly.

If Microsoft wants a "hardcore" or "triple A" game using the kinect they should have someone do this from the ground up. You don't show off the potential of a technology by slapping it onto something popular and hoping it sticks, you start the developement from day one asking how to properly utilize this. If Microsoft wants to pay for a Mass Effect game on the kinect go for it, but it should be a fresh game that really thinks about the technology.

Kinect + Mass Effect = Omnitool.

"Lift your arm up to open your Omnitool!"
Read: Open menu by lifting arm...away from the controller...in a firefight...yeah.
Screw Kinect! They should have made an Omni-tool for the 360's motion controls!

Besides, how could they possibly use motion control in any significant way? It's a multi-platform title. 360, PC and PS3. Are they going to make a version compatible with the PS Move? That seems like an awful waste of time and effort. And then what about PC?

I find it hard to believe. Not only because I really don't want to believe it, but also because it just makes no sense.

Edit: Though that Omni-Tool suggestion some people are saying here sounds cool. I could nerd out over that.
...

But hey, so long as it's optional, I guess it can't do much harm... right?
I'd take this as good news. If the "tweaking for a larger market" is just a Kinect option, then that means it will be a kind of tweaking that the rest of us can just ignore. Any Kinect commands will be built off of already existing controller commands, not the other way around.

I dont think i want to even look at Bioware anymore, seems they have gone so far from their RPG roots that there is no going back now...

The only sensible thing I can see the Kinect being used for would be manipulating the galaxy map for travel. If it's anything more than that, it will just be annoying and unnecessary.

C'mon making Shepard look more like me with some sort of face scanner!
I support this 110%.

Time to stave off the rust-buckets with looks alone! =P

EDIT: If it isn't forcibly integrated into the core gameplay, who cares? There are worse things in life that having the option to rotate the galaxy map, scan for minerals or "break in" the ladies with motion controls.
