This past Wednesday and today, Nintendo has been holding an event at Best Buy to raise hype for games shown at E3. Four titles, Super Mario 3D World, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, will be showcased at today's event and will be playable at select Best Buys around the country.

However, when a certain Xbox creator known as Microsoft heard, they came up with a plan to infiltrate these events. Hear the story after the jump.

Microsoft has been trying to raise hype for Xbox One, and the exclusives they showed at E3 worked in their favor. However, they have hurt themselves once again by sending employees of their company to Nintendo?s Best Buy events. Gamers have had to deal with comments like "Why would you bother with a Wii U when Xbox One is right around the corner?"

I have no idea if this is true or if it was a case of clever Photoshop, but seeing how this is seemingly a only recently breaking story, I'm betting more details will be released in the coming days.

IMO if this IS true, then it adds a context to other rumors like that story about employees doing reputation management on Reddit that might give them a lot more credibility.

Update: This just in, I found a video from My Nintendo News.com of the man at the center of all this.

I know the quality sucks but I was able to make out at 0.35 "Put a blanket on it" in regards to the Always On Kinect. -_-"
Once again, I can't tell if this is a real employee or not but at least we can confirm that this isn't a case of Photoshop.

Welp, it doesn't really surprise me too much if Microsoft really did that. They've really lost my respect in some of their practices as of late.

But at the same time, I would still find it incredibly possible if one of their now many detractors created this to spite the company as well. Until the confirmed source of this image, as well as further context to go with it, I am afraid all we can do is wait.

Now, back to you on the weather, Diablo1099.

Oh come on, look at the picture. If you're a Microsoft employee trying to undermine Nintendo gigs, you're obviously not going to wear a Microsoft t-shirt.
Unfortunately the gaming media is alike to all other media in that it sensationalises and, with lack of another story, makes shit up.

Seems a little too pathetic to be true, even for Microsoft. Besides, what would it amount to? The people who stood in line at those Wii U events were probably almost universally Nintendo fans who had already made up their mind. They're not likely to be swayed by such desperate-seeming and almost insultingly transparent tactics.

Still, if it actually happened and I were in one of those line, my reaction would be this:

Oh hey guess what. I heard Microsoft employee kill a whole bunch of people. How do I know he was from Microsoft? Cause he had a huge "I"M FROM MICROSOFT" print, written in market no less, on the front of his shirt. Totally true and not making it up.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft did this.
... Well at least now since the Xbox One is officially "The joke of the internet" now.
So yeah ... not surprised really.

I'd imagine that Microsoft employs hardcore Xbox fans or makes them into hardcore Xbox fans and then do this.
Since you know ... Sony is in the lead by far, so they do have a reason to take out the middle position. (Which is everyone's beloved Nintendo)

*Checks story*

Nhg ... never heard of those gaming news sites, so I can't really trust the information.
Who knows, it might NOT be Microsoft but it might just their fans doing this.

... or enemies.
It be one pretty good plan to make everyone hate the Xbox One even more. XD

So yeah, wait for more evidence that would be the best thing to do.

If True, then Microsoft is really terrified about how badly they screwed up, to the point where they are trying to even tear into the WiiU (once considered a "Non-Combatant" to them).

However, this could simply be Microsoft Fanboys being jerks in a lot of the Best Buys in America, or a simple isolated incident. Either way, Microsoft is looking screwed.

To be fair, WiiU did outsell the Xbox 360.
I assume you mean "Within the Timeframe of the WiiU Launch and the XBox 360 Launch", which is in fact correct.

There are users on Neogaf who went to the Best Buy events, and said themselves that they were approached by Microsoft reps. Again, they could be lying, but there are quite a few people who say they went to the events, and all of them have similar stories about Microsoft reps trying to sell them on the Xbone over the Wii U.

At this point, you know things are bad when Microsoft is feeling insecure over Wii U sales. And I'm saying that as captain of the Nintendo Defence Force.
To be fair, WiiU did outsell the Xbox 360. And MS haven't exactly been winning people over with the XB1... Though this is still incredibly lame, if true. And people say Nintendo's getting desperate >_>.

I would really hope this isn't true. I mean, what would be the point? All it would really do is make them look even worse. And they don't really need to look worse with the anti-consumer machine being so beloved.

I could easily see this being a case of a few fanboys trolling people at the events. Of course, if this was done on a larger scale, then that would make it seem more likely.

Classy Microsoft, real classy. ¬__¬ If I wasn't already not going to be buying your console, I definitely wouldn't be buying it now.

I believe it happened but whether it was actually indorsed by Microsoft or not I'm not so sure. Pleantly of people seem ready to defend the undefendable with regards to Microsoft and one of those shirts wouldn't be to hard to come by.

Well I have no doubt companies would go that far, however they are not dumb enough to send these guys out in company branded shirts... ergo this is just some deranged MS fanboyism driving people to harass the public.

Does anyone think this could easily be a troll? How easy would it be to get a generic polo that says Microsoft and then go around doing this?

There must be a thousand different places where you can make custom printed clothing so yeah, I do have a feeling you might be correct here. What we need to consider is that despite how things seem Microsoft isn't stupid. Remember the rumour about them bribing publishers to avoid talking about the PS4 when games would be released for both Xbox and PS4? That's subtle and more likely than them getting people to trash talk their competitor wearing their company logo. All this is leading to is generating more negative buzz which makes me think this could just as easily have been done with a Sony/Nintendo fanboy, general troll as an actual Microsoft employee.

I might be wrong though. They might really be this stupid.

That would be my guess. I know Microsoft is stupid, but I don't think they are they blatantly stupid. I'd guess is it is either fake, or someone is trolling.

I doubt Microsoft would resort to shit this crazy. They'd have to know it would make them look even worse in the end which they absolutely cannot afford right now.

Then again, you never know. Maybe they don't think they have much to lose in the PR department right now.
