HEY NINTENDO! This may sound crazy to everyone, BUT I LIKE IT WHEN YOU DEVIATE FROM THE FORMULA! I liked ocarina, I was indifferent about majora, but I've hated every addition to your new zeldas. This doesn't sound like it's going to be very good.

a prequal... tidy. I love prequals...
[sub] I still want a FFX prequal that's about Jecht, Auren and Braska [/sub]

For an Auron fan you sure do seem to struggle spelling his name. :p (I do totally agree that would make an awesome game tho).

I'm not sure why but thinking 'Open world Legend of Zelda' seems to conjure images reminiscent of Shadows of the Collosus for some reason. It could work. If it's true.

The creation of the master sword is definitely something that I think a lot of people want to see. Wasn't that done by the 'Hero of Man' according to some background text from some Zelda game or other?

"Set hundreds of years before Ocarina of Time"????

NINTENDO ALREADY SAID THERE WASN'T A TIMELINE! WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE!?!

I'm highly confused. Must hear more. This sounds interesting.

I actually like this idea, and I'm a diehard Zelda fan (by diehard, I mean I've played through and beaten every one in existence except for the Tingle/CDi games). The formula change will obviously upset some people, but if they pull it off well, it could turn out really interesting.
What CD-i games? They don't exist, remember?
they did? becuase I am sure their is the adult and child storylines?

I'm a huge Zelda fan but this rumor intrigues me. They've been doing the same thing for long enough that any major change in the formula could be a good thing. Majora's Mask is, after all, one of my favorite Zelda games.

I believe the fans have set up a timeline for the multiple realities.

For the Ocarina reality it goes something along the lines of...well... New game first I suppose, skip hundreds of years, Ocarina, Majora,GBA game I cant remember name of, TP, Skip a couple hundred mroe years and then we have wind waker.

Of course it is unofficial, but meh seems workable.

Interesting, I always thought of the Zelda franchise in total as an "open" world... other than having to go into a house/dungeon, I never felt like it was linear at all...

Maybe I'm not understanding the big deal here?
Kinda feel the same way. Regardless, if Nintendo is making a big deal (assuming it's no rumor) about doing something different for once I'm all ears.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that Space aliens (from space) will be assisting Link in his battles against the evil overlord. There are always these rumours, and having that many sites between me and the rumour means I'm not even going to be considering this.

I think that was the Four Sword from the intro to Minish Cap

OT: There is going to be a ton of fan backlash for this game. There is going to be a ton of whining for deviating from the formula.

This game sounds even worse every time I hear about it.
Really? Cause I like open world games better.
The games were already open world enough. Open World games generally make the main quests completely shitty. The dungeon system of the old games worked decently, this is going to be terrible.
The only difference I can see being noticeable with a game as open as Zelda being open world is the removal of a lot of loading screens. Thats it. They wouldn't need to change much.

I'm interested.. and somewhat surprised. Nintendo isn't actually known for, you know, actually doing much new with their established characters and series. Prior to this Zelda has pretty much been the same game since the first one. Heck, even the black sheep of Zelda 2 basically followed the same template with the exception of having the "action areas" side scrolling.

So was it a german translator translating japanese? then to another german site, who would obivously edit it alittle, then to ZI who translated the translateed editted version to english. So Really, the whatever-the-tip-is-called could be that it will be set in 2095 in the great frozen salt rings surronding Jupiter with a team of eskimos as main characters? Although to be honest I'd rather play that than a Zelda game...
